Another of my friends is online playing RDR right now. Damn him! And damn me for cheaping out on shipping. :'(


I've gone back in to the Rockstar Social Club and added Live friends who are already Social Club members. For those who are not members, I was just watching the Sent U A Message video on Inside Xbox and it was saying that signing up for the Social Club will unlock features in the game. It's probably worth it to sign up, here's some more info:

2) Purchase "Red Dead Redemption"
3) Play Red Dead Redemption
4) Receive Amazon copy of Red Dead Redemption
5) Take it + Wal-Mart recepit to Wal Mart and get cash back.

I assume all UPC's are the same...it'd be brand new in the wrapper.

I've had success doing this before. Shouldn't have any problems if you can't wait long enough.

The only problem with this is that the copy from Amazon will include the DLC code for the gold guns inside, so the UPC might indeed be different. Not sure tho. Plus you'll probably lose your gold guns. I actually did this with GTA4 back in the day tho, lol.

Unless the Gold Guns DLC comes on a piece of paper outside of the game case. Can anyone who got it today confirm either way?

Someone also mentioned that Amazon's shrinkwrap on games is different than what comes on games in retail? Anyone know if this is true?

Picked RDR up at gamestop last this morning at 12:01 and played for about an hour. So far, I like it. It feels very much like an extension of "The Good, the Bad, and The Ugly," which is arguably the best Western movie of all time.

Graphics are not as impressive as I thought they would be. Anyone know of a site that is comparing the PS3 and 360 versions graphically?

Just got home and picked the game up at Walmart on my way. Only a half day at work today so I have lots of time to play tonight.

PS3 box says 720p, but yeah, it's actually being said that it's running at 644p on the PS3, which would be in line with GTA4, which runs on the same engine.

Mine was delivered a little bit ago as well.

I seriously doubt I will get to it though as I have soccer practice tonight and I still need to prep my mini for tomorrow night's Forza. Pretty sad that it is my car night I have yet to get a car for myself.

I was so excited for this game in the last weeks/days leading up to the release. Got 15 minutes in and I have no desire to play anymore. I had to race Bonnie on horseback and it made me want to throw myself out of a fourth-story window.

It was like racing in a World War I tank at gallop speeds over things that deliberately slowed me down like fences, sheer face hills and other things. That part I understand, but if you don't mash the A button you immediately go at turtle pace. I can't steer the camera and mash A, so you can imagine how that went. Then after a long enough time in this hellish race, I get to a bridge that the horse seems hell-bent on missing and falling into a ravine, killing me and forcing me to restart. I keep trying to steer away from the ravine but the speed makes the turning really sensitive and I die anyway.

So after three deaths, it asks me if I want to skip that challenge, but if I do I don't get any rewards etc. Great.

Tell me about it. I'm sure I'll keep playing eventually, but the garbage horse riding made me angry enough to want to piss my pants. In fact, I think Ninja Gaiden didn't even have that effect on me. I hope I'm the only one that's had this experience with horse riding.

I just picked it up. I don't know if I can pull myself away from Monster Hunter 3 online long enough to play it though.
