Is it true that I am reading that the MP component cannot be accessed until you "find" something or complete some sort of challenge in the SP mode?

I was so excited for this game in the last weeks/days leading up to the release. Got 15 minutes in and I have no desire to play anymore. I had to race Bonnie on horseback and it made me want to throw myself out of a fourth-story window.
It was like racing in a World War I tank at gallop speeds over things that deliberately slowed me down like fences, sheer face hills and other things. That part I understand, but if you don't mash the A button you immediately go at turtle pace. I can't steer the camera and mash A, so you can imagine how that went. Then after a long enough time in this hellish race, I get to a bridge that the horse seems hell-bent on missing and falling into a ravine, killing me and forcing me to restart. I keep trying to steer away from the ravine but the speed makes the turning really sensitive and I die anyway.
So after three deaths, it asks me if I want to skip that challenge, but if I do I don't get any rewards etc. Great.
TIP:
first thing...
go to options, change your camera view to "camera relative" from "horse relative".
it will save you some frustration when you have to look at things while riding.

Why did we decide to write this post for this particular game? It's rare we get sent both copies of a game, and there has been some discussion about which one to get. Let us know if this is something you're interested in seeing in the future, and we'll try to provide more of it when we can.
