An auto target? That'd be no fun...why not put an auto target into Halo 3?

It did? I certainly haven't played an auto target version...and I'm playing through the game right now.

It's not possible to run and gun at the same time but I find that running and gunning at the same time is very difficult so I usually don't do it. Also you can always run then gun which if you time it right can almost simulate running and gunning at same time.

True, but the whole aiming method makes that a little slow.

Optimally methinks the best way to get over the iffy controls is a well coordinated co-op effort since you can cover/slow down enemies while your partner moves.

Holy crap--what a shitty experience that was. The controls are total garbage. I really wish Capcom would keep RE in the survival horror genre. I actually really enjoyed most of the previous games in the series--but now it's got a seious case of identity crisis. It want to an action/3rd person shooter and retain the intensity that the controls provided in the past.

This isnt looking good at all and I dont think this game should get a free pass just because its a RE game.

I don't know what you guys are talking about for controls being terrible. I have RE 4 on my Gamecube and the demo on the PS3. I found the PS3 to be much more responsive than the gamecube and overall a lot better than Deadspace on the PS3 which I own. There is a lot of things going on that can crab you up but I don't think they are terrible. An auto aim would be nice but that might make it a bit too easy. I found after practicing a few rounds on solo mode and getting used to the map I could have my way with it.

Yeah, they take some getting used to, but after one run through I too beat the chainsaw level on solo and only got hit once, which was by a thrown weapon while I was reloading. Honestly the AI I think you could gripe about more than the controls.

I think the reason people are complaining is because RE5 has the gameplay of an action game with the controls of a survival horror game. RE4 was much more action-oriented but it was still pretty much a SH game.

I haven't played the demo yet so I can't give my opinion but that's the general consensus I've gotten from reading the comments.

My initial thoughts are this. I can't believe how bad the controls are. Here we are in 2009 and console games like this still only offer a few preset controls. That's why i love pc gaming. There you got fully customizable controls. Also the point of view angle is very weird. I know its supposed to be 3rd person but to me it feels like first person just skewed way to the right. Which just makes it even harder to aim when combined with the shitty controls. If your gonna go with that fov why not just go first person and be done with it. It would make aiming a lot easier. I don't know, I walked away feeling disappointed. I never played RE4 but have played 1, 2, 3, and CV. This game has the zombies but I almost feel like I'm in a arcade when I'm playing it. With the glowing ammo packs and never ending zombies. It just doesn't feel like the old RE games.

Also one more thing. Whats with these washed out look in games these days. Were in the high definition era and graphics seem to be taking a step back. Some type of motion blur effect or w/e to make the game look better?? I want crisp clean detail not this crap.

I think, graphics and sound-wise, the game is very good. Unfortunately, "stop-and-shoot" is pretty much every bit as annoying as I thought it could be, and using the knife is just full-on awful. I played the demo and just wished it had a Gears of War-esque control scheme (and no stop-and-shoot) the entire time.

This is not to say I think the game is awful, or that it will be completely unappealing, but it just didn't click for me. I have never played an RE game before, ever, FWIW. I _wanted_ to like it.

I had problems with the demo freezing on my PS3. The first time I ran it it froze after I chose single player mode, the second time it froze after the first cut scene in the first level. Once I actually got to the action I was pretty disappointed, it's like they made the AI dumb in order to compensate for the slow controls. Most of the time infected guys right next to you just slowly walk around and don't bother to attack you even, it made the game feel pretty boring and not suspenseful at all.

same sentiments i loved all of the previous REs, and 4 rocked hard. .. but im not feeling 5. i know its a demo, but still... the 2 character stuff makes it even more difficult.

I don't know I quite liked the controls, they add to the tension of the game, Sheva can be frustrating playing solo but once I tried a coop game online it was pretty smooth.

Handling Sheva when playing solo can be a pain in the ass and the inventory system could use some work, other than that, I quite liked the demo, I'll definitely buy it, RE5 would suck with Gears of Wars controls.

i do agree with the aiming/controls. if they improved that, it would def. be a buy for me.

I never thought i'd ever say this but, if they released this for Wii i would probably buy it over PS3/360. RE4 for Wii had great controls.

Just downloaded the demo myself and agree with you guys as well as everyone else complaining about the controls... i'm a PC gamer mostly, so I chalked it up to just not being used to using a controller, but with so many people complaining at least I know it isn't just me

The controls aren't bad IMO, they just give me that feeling like "Oh God, I gotta get a little lead on these guys an pop off a few shots before I die." The game would be incredibly lame if you could move and shoot IMHO.
