Called 2 Best Buy's in the area, both said they will not match the Toys R Us GC offer. Mayhaps yours will but they were pretty sure of themselves when they said it. Called TRU just to make sure of the offer and the Electronics guy said he wasn't sure, but he "thought" they were giving away the card and would know for sure tomorrow morning. Looks like I'll be going that route since I can't try CC for price matching anymore

on the other hand, if you DONT have it installed on PS3, OR you do but the person you are facing online doesn't, it takes like 3-4 seconds LONGER on ps3 than Xbox360 to load.

Mandatory PS3 install means it should be quicker than a non-installed 360 game I suppose.

Capcom

Capcom picked the reviewer?

It was a joke (but not really) because all of the "official" review sites and mags are in the pockets of the game developers. Gamespot, IGN, etc. are all paid more if they give a game a good review. This is a widely known fact...especially since the whole Gamespot/Kane and Lynch fiasco.

That's why you can't trust "official" reviews...they are more like paid advertisements.

Best Buy doesn't match anything it seems. They have really poor customer service. I remember when I bought my PS3, WalMart was having a deal where if you bought the MGS4 80GB PS3, they would give you a $100 gift card. So I went to Best Buy, and they stated very bluntly that they were instructed by their managers to NOT match that particular deal. So, I told them "your loss of a $500 sale" and went to WalMart.

Anyone know if there's a way to make use of the full screen when playing split screen coop? I tried changing the resolution to 480p for the demo but that didn't work. If this problem still exists for the full version of the game, I probably won't be picking it up. Thanks.

In your shoes I'd do the same thing. They're not doing themselves any favors by missing out on a sale. I don't even care if they gave me a $20 gift card instead of knocking $20, they know that would be cash that's eventually come back to 'em. In a market that's a money-tight and competitive as this they can't afford to miss out on any sales.

Called TRU yesterday to confirm the $20 GC, guy said he wasn't sure and to call back today. Called a few mins ago and he said yup, Friday and Saturday they're giving away the cards.

Also, adding a list of people looking for co-op partners in the OP. Post up your XBL GT or PSN name.

Capcom announced a competitive multiplayer DLC for RE5 that should come out in "a few weeks".

Versus allows up to four players to match wits in online battles across two very different game types. Slayer?s Rule is a point-based game that challenges players to kill Majinis. In Survivor?s Rule, players hunt the most dangerous game, each other! Players can begin the hunt as Chris, Sheva or other secret characters, and choose from either one-on-one or two-versus-two team matches for either of the two gameplay styles

Oddly, the price for the DLC on the PS3 will be $3.99 while the 360 price will be $5 (400 MS Points). No reason is given for the price difference.

Oh, you can take your pick of gaming blog/newssite now. Kotaku, Joystik, MTV Multiplayer, etc.

Was RE4 really this bad? I haven't played it in a few years, but geez, that was a classic; one of the best games of the last generation. Without this demo I would have bought the game on release day, but now I am going to wait for all of the reviews to roll out.

BD2003 is exactly right about how stupid the combat becomes when fighting a boss. Its like playing "red rover" with all of the zombies, then quickly turning and shooting once you get through their wall. Repeat ad nauseum.

Also, something seemed off with the aiming mechanics.

RE4 had the same control scheme, in fact, RE5 is a little snappier.

I'm picking up a copy at TRU after work. The wife's going to Chicago this weekend so I'll put some time in it. Anyone looking for a co-op partner?

just picked it up... I?m a little disappointed, to be honest. Don't really like the controls and in the single player Sheva is annoying

Meh. Controls are about the same as always. Pretty hard to get used to, esp. with a partner now. I died twice on the opening part lol.

A friend of mine bought the game, so I rented it for a week so we can play some co-op. That should satiate my desire for some co-op gameplay, and I'll have saved $50+ on buying it .

Yeah, but if it's at all like RE4 I'll play through it several times. Plus with competitive multiplayer coming who knows how I'll get into it.

Same here. I don't think I will ever tire of RE4 and RE5 looks to be the same

My friend and I just played through chapters 1-1 and 1-2, and had a blast. Quick question though. Will we be able to pick up with our characters from that same exact spot and same exact inventory while my friend continues on his single player game? How exactly does that work?

I was a huge skeptic about whether I'd like the controls or not, but after playing up through chapter 2-2 with a friend, I can say I'm loving the game. The controls feel natural after a while and they actually work well. I did bump up the aim speed to fastest.

This game is definitely much more fun with a coop partner, though.

Ya, I don't think I'd enjoy it alone, but playing with a friend has been awesome. We're chatting back and forth, making sure each other has appropriate supplies, talking strategy, etc.

****SPOILER FOR LEVEL 1-2****

The part where you had to trap the mini-boss in the fire chamber was awesome. My friend didn't understand what I was doing, but I thought he did, and I kept yelling at him to lure him into the chamber. When he finally did, I told him to get the fuck out of there while I hit the switch. Those doors closed so damn slowly, we both were on the edge of our seats afraid he was going to get out. lol

That's what co-op is all about.

****END SPOILER****

no. Its odd I know. But then I found out the ps3 version doesn't offer lan play. Youre just a "helper". the cpu will fill in while you're not there. You guys can start over at your last end point, via chapter select.

I think you can get around it via using different profiles on the 360, since the game auto saves.

This game alone makes me wish I had a current gen console but I'm glad to know it's coming out in a couple months on PC but I read it's only like 12 hours. WTF is every game now-a-days so goddamn short.
