Unless you really like abusing your friends, I find it to be a better way to sing & play guitar at the same time.

The only people I know who sing with a Xbox Live Style headset hooked up to their head is pop stars like Britney. I'm not Britney, so I'll use the real mic... and abuse my friends till I get a stand

You serious "artists" are all the same.

I finally picked up this game yesterday after playing it a few times at BB since it came out.

This game rocks. My whole family was playing and it's so entertaining. I like it way better than GH3. I hope I don't get stuck playing in solo mode though since I don't have family/friends over all the time.

Solo mode isn't that bad, at least on the drums. You can practice lots and get better without having to worry about others.

You can do the whole band mode by yourself if you hook up the headset as a mic. You can sing and play guitar or drums, I completed most of the band tour this way by myself. Yes, you feel like an idiot singing but if you are alone there is no one there to hear you.

I think most people feel that way when they first use the RB guitar. I forced myself to switch even though you can use the GH control on the 360 version of Rock Band. After a few weeks I greatly preferred the RB controller and it's now annoying to have to go back to a noisy GH ukelele in the rare instance I want to play a GH game.

I used the RB guitar for a couple months. Went out and purchased GH3 because I was sick of the RB guitar and really never went back. The RB guitar is tricky to get into over-drive, misses during strumming, and feels like cheap plastic. The only nice part is the solo buttons which are handy for the solos in later songs like GG&HT on the harder levels.

I'm very happy with them, but sometimes it feels when I hit the red pad (I believe its always the snare), it wont register properly. Maybe I just stink and I need to pound on it a little harder, but it doesn't seem that way for the other pads for the most part. Am I imagining things?

Same here. I haven't put much time into my drums at all, but the night we bought them and played, the red pad seemed to sometimes miss also, while the others seemed pretty fine. I play on medium, so no drum rolls for me, either.

My red pad will not do a drum roll faster than mabye 16th notes on a song with a lower BPM.

Hey guys, is there an easy how to distinguish older guitars with flawed design from the newer ones? I am playing Creep on expert and it seems like no matter what I do, I am missing some notes during long string of notes where you have to strum quickly. I don't know if it's inherent to PS3's wireless design or if my guitar can't register the notes quick enough (flawed).

Honestly, if you're even questioning it a bit, you should just contact EA and get a replacement. It's really painless - especially if you're willing to put up a credit card to have them send it first. They'll replace it no questions asked.

Here are the songs for DLC this week (3/11) All songs are $.99 (80 Microsoft Points).

"Shockwave" by Black Tide (Master)
"Crushcrushcrush" by Paramore (Master)
"Beethoven's C***" by Serj Tankian (Master)

I don't remember these on the earlier leaked list and I don't think this was the schedule that was in the magazine (OXM, was it?). So unless my memory has failed, HMX must be switching it all up.

I'm not crazy about any of the songs, but for only $1 some of them may get a second look. I would have preferred the Paramore song that's currently being played (soon to be overplayed) on the radio as opposed to the one they've offered. The Black Tide song sounds like a decent enough generic rock song. And though I recognize his great talent, I'm not a big Serj/SoaD fan. Oh well.

Actually this Paramore song is the one that's been playing on the radio for the last month or more. I like this one better, so I'm glad it's gonna be up

On a side note, anyone browse the rockband.com forums today? What a bunch of crybabies out there!!

I've looked it up, the one I was thinking about is called "Misery Business". The fiancee has already decided that just about any song with girl vocals must be bought with my extra points, so I'm sure I'll get used to "Crushcrushcrush".

It seems like there are crybabies whenever the DLC is announced. Everyone is quick to say any music they don't like "sucks", shouldn't be in Rock Band, and anyone who does like that music is stupid. Personally, there have been plenty of weeks that I haven't been crazy about the selection. But like any reasonable person I can understand different strokes for different folks and hopefully I'll like the DLC more the following week.

I love Rock Band, but it's a shame it has brought even more media snobbery/elitism to video games.

So what's the word on extra guitars for ps3? I see that nyko is coming out with one this month that allegedly works in GH3 and Rock Band. Anyone got the scoop? Sorry if it's in this thread somewhere... I didn't read through it all (yet). I'm dangerously close to biting down and buying a PS3 and Rock Band. I have no interest in a 360 since the main use of the PS3 will be as a blu-ray player. But it would suck if I could only get one guitar in the game or had to pay $80 for a second guitar.

Next week for DLC we have the much awaited Earache Thrash Pack. All tracks are $1.99 (160 Microsoft Points) or $5.49 (440 Microsoft Points) for the pack.

"Blinded By Fear" by At the Gates (master)

"Thrasher" by Evile (master)

"D.O.A." by The Haunted (master)

Bah, I haven't heard any of these, but I'm not in a hurry to add much thrash music as a possibility during the random setlists in BWT. Hopefully someone will enjoy these, but I have to admit that I'm disappointed the "D.O.A." song that was listed in the leaked file has turned out not to be by the Foo Fighters.

Just search for them on Youtube.... all crap!

The DLC content is awful in general.
Where is Alice in Chains???
Maybe some Sublime?
Some earlier J. Geils would be cool
Korn
More Nirvana
How about some Rob Zombie?
and of course MORE STP!

Last night was quite entertaining... I played with three other friends all evening (three friends who are still on easy/medium, while I've been playing on hard). We hit The Strokes - Reptilia, when the guy who was playing guitar couldnt play it for some reason... so I switched singing to him, and he couldnt sing it either. Being the douchebag I am, I dropped to medium in difficulty for guitar, and medium on singing, and told him to hold the microphone to my mouth for the song. I ended up beating both my band members in percentage with both vocals and lead guitar. That was quite entertaining.

That is excellent. Hmm... four of those are must-buys for me. So do I spring for the whole pack since it would only be 160pts more or only buy the four I really want?

Hell, I'd just pick up the entire pack. More songs never killed anyone.

This is finally a pack that I think will be fun as hell. Great week! I might have to pick up guitar again, drums have been taking all my time ATM.

Any info on how exactly the instruments will work? I'm a bit curious about that. I sure hope it won't require multiple Wiimotes .

The arstechnica post says it will be just like all the current rock band peripherals, custom, not using the wii remote

I would prefer Don't Look Back or Amanda over a couple of those but overall I'm pretty excited for this. I've been waiting for more Boston to be available. I can't wait to be able to play it this weekend.

It'd be nice if it allowed the GH3 controllers to work with it as well since. Since they're using the Wiimote in the GH3 controller it should be that hard for Hamonix (or whoever is porting it) to make it work.

In other news. I really wanted to check out the new music store today but forgot my cd at my GFs house.
