man this game is awesome. Drums owned me last night.
The only problem I have had is a disk read error once. That is the first time my machine has ever had that happen. I just hope it isn't a sign of impending rrod. The disk had no fingerprints or scratches. I'm probably being paranoid though. It worked fine after that and so did Mass Effect.
Tried Blackened on expert drums for giggles and insta failed lol.

Oh, and P.S. - the track list is the best of any rhythm game ever. Just jumping into it - the first 5 songs I played were "Blitzkreig Bop", "Creep", "I Think I'm Paranoid", "In Bloom" and "Here It Goes Again".

BWT is kind of weird in that you end up playing a lot of the same songs over again until you get enough fans to unlock more songs. What's even weirder is we would select myster set and it'd give us the EXACT same set everytime in the same order.

Picked it up last night as an impulse buy (Just saw the stacks at BestBuy). Although I was really looking forward to this tgame, I didn't wnat to shell out an extra 170 on top of what i paid for guitar hero 3. Anways, fastforward to later that night. I got together with a group of friends (5 of us total) and started jamming away at the BWT. OMG sooooo fun. I haven't had this much fun in a party game in a looooong time (halo is in a whole diff category). The fender was great and felt solid + light, drums were well built (metal legs and actuall drum sticks!). The game itself is a lot of fun too, being able to actually customize your character to your own liking. Plus, the song list is freaking awesome (Oh man, it was orgasmic to be able to play drums, vocals or even guitar for weezer). The only gripes I have with the game are as follows:
Fender strum bar is weird and is very awkward to use because I can never tell if I'm strumming it. I usually hit it like how I play my guitar just so I make sure I'm strike the chords.

What's even weirder is we would select myster set and it'd give us the EXACT same set everytime in the same order. Also, the fact that band members can't jump instruments like some of you have noted.
I also don't like how the guitar can't come apart easily so it'd fit back in the box.

Aesthetics
Something I never really get to discuss with most video game impressions--the over all physical look and appeal of the peripherals.
Overall, I've got to say that I'm very much impressed with what I got here a $169.99 price tag. Not just 3/4 of the over all band set--but the quality of the parts too. The Guitar, in my opinion, just feels of better craftsmanship (and ergonomics) than any the Guitar Hero games including 3.
The drums, to my surprise, are surprisingly durable and good looking (for what they really are--not real drums, if that makes any sense). I guess for the rather low retail price of the package (relatively speaking), I expected them to come with plastic piping--not aluminum--and to just be a bit flimsy. I wouldnt let someones kids climb all over them, they're not that durable, but they are just better than I expected.
The mic posed a little bit of stress for me, because it wouldnt work initially. We searched for a on/off switch but couldnt find anything of the sort. Turns out that you need to have atleast one PS3 controller turned on, so that you can make the selections in the menu for the mic. It makes sense, and after turning the controller on--it was a head slapper.
Songs
I was pumped for a lot of the songs included with the retail package, but when I first heard them I got really excited! I just happen to be a really big Radiohead, Pixies, and Yeah Yeah Yeahs fan, so the song selection is really up my alley.
I know that's not too much (I only played two songs), but I just figured I would throw out a PS3 users experience.
Etc
I really like the look and design of the menus and gameplay visuals. For those that are curious, the game runs at 720P and looks pretty good. There are some filters thrown out there during some of the gameplay rock scenes like "Film Grain" and "Black and White". I'm sure there are more as Ive only played for an hour or so.
I've not had a problem in the past with latency with any of the GH games on my PS2 or 360 (same TV throughout). but with RB, the default settings in the calibration created a noticable input lag making me and my wife (drums, HA!) miss more than 50% of the notes. I simple when to the calibration menu and selected (LCD) and all was fine. It took 10 seconds to resolve the issue, so kudos to Harmonix to putting those pre-configured settings in there.

Quick question...have the downloadable tracks been released yet? I saw an article saying that Buddy Holly was going to be released as a single downloadable track. If that is true, I'm gonna get some points on the way home from work just for that!

Ya, that's really stupid. Makes me wonder why they even released the stand-alone game for the PS3 when there isn't a stand-alone guitar anywhere on the market that will work.

I have the PS3 version and pretty much agree, about the lag.
I have a DLP TV which is very prone to lag, and for GH3 the lag is very bad and I just can not get it right(I think it is a game/guitar issue) For Rock Band, there was a lag until I selected DLP calibration and it works just fine now. Works much better than GH3 does.

I have absolutely no lag on my DLP in GH3.
Samsung Game Mode ftw.
Oh and I saw the game in Wal-Mart by itself... I was thinking about buying it now since I planned on buying it once the peripherals were released separately (Jan/Feb 2008). I really want to try the Radiohead song and I have two guitars anyway (Gibson and Xplorer). I would miss out on the instrument that I'd like to try (the drums) but shouldn't be a big deal... whaddya guys think?

Yes, get it now.
Let's say you buy the game and the drums, that's already $140 ($60 + $80). For $30 more: you get a guitar and a mic, and most importantly, the chance to play it NOW, instead of two months from now.

To my knowledge, I can only get the game itself not the entire kit. I haven't really looked around though. I guess I'll look into it, but as I was looking around stores today I didn't see any bundles lying around (always check electronics even if I don't want anything ).
