Finally had a chance to play. probably racked 5-6 hours so far. Easy was too easy, in the middle of medium (drums). tried a few hard songs, was ok until bass pedal gets crazy

It is tons of fun, I love the singing and playing drums aspect. However, I still think Guitar Hero has a slight edge as far as the guitar / bass playing goes. I also think the GH guitar is more solid.

Local BB had about 15 in stock earlier. Was tempted to pick it up, but then I hit up circuit city afterwards and they had a crap load stacked on the floor as well. I'll hold out since finding it in stock doesn't look to be too difficult not to mention I'm only halfway through GH3

Honestly I like the guitar charts in RB bmuch better. Yes it is easier. I can beat RB on hard but am stuck on the last tier in gh3. The difference is that the RB charts are fun to play and don't have random notes thrown in just to make it harder for hards sake. You can definitely tell that harmonix did gh1&2 but not 3.

If you can beat GH on expert then yeah don't expect a challenge but when playing with others it will be more fun. Since I can't beat GH on expert, Rock Band is even more fun solo.


Another big difference is the note timing window is much tighter on RB.

The real reason to get RB is of course the awesome drums which are ridiculous hard. Also the singing is fun and hard on HARD and EXPERT.

You're right, it does NOT. But the GH3 controller works on RB (360 version only).

actually kind of a tame song. not that he isnt good, but since he plays drums in real life its not like its anything special. i wanna see someone play blackened on expert the tape trick looks interesting, i need to try that, my red drum isnt very responsive.

I am sure this is a really stupid question for you guys. I am brand new to console gaming having just bought a Wii yesterday.

Will Rockband ever be available for the Wii? My understanding is GH3 is, wonder why not the Wii?

From what I hear no, it won't be on the wii because the wii doesn't have the online capabilities the developers wanted/needed for everything to work flawlessly. I don't think there's a game yet that has online play for the wii actually...

Not sure, it's in GH3 though. Are you sure it was RB that you saw it in? If so it'll probably be up for download fairly soon.

yeah, there it is. Looks like an early build of the game or something, but why show it if you don't put it in the game? I don't see it listed as DLC anywhere, and they have it listed through December.

Anyway, that would be pretty crappy IMO to sell it when you show it like this before the games comes out.

The video that you're talking about was leaked unofficially. Harmonix/EA/MTV Games did not use it as a promotional tool outside of a single developer conference, it just became wildly popular because it was the first gameplay action that anyone had seen.

I remember one of the Harmonix PR reps was specifically quoted on Kotaku that viewers shouldn't fall in love with the GNR song because the song list was in the preliminary stages.

Anyway, I'm far more annoyed that the Velvet Revolver song they use in the friggin' Guitar Hero III commercial is an extra cost, let alone completely unable to be purchased on the PS2/Wii versions.

in the info on the sidebar he says its to bring the pad closer to the sensor thus making the thing more sensitive. my red pad is kind of unresponsive so ill probably try it. makes sense.

THe same guy that made that vid made a video that showed his drums broken. You can do single stroke rolls on the red one and it will only pick up like 3 of 7 hits or less. That is his fix until he can get them replaced.

Also my RB strat broke last night. strumbar...same as everyone else. I think I'll wait to send it back until there is confirmation that the replacements are working fine.

Indeed. That video was never intended to be released to the public. I'm pretty sure GH3 has Welcome to the Jungle and any other GnR song wrapped up because of the Slash endorsement.

got RockBand today finally from my Amazon Pre-order....

I proceded to get a RMA immediately on my guitar since one of the springs was missing for the battery (nice job on the QA) so it doesn't work.

I'm having fun playing drums on easy though...
