I set mine to 38ms, however drum solos still come out delayed and end up not being fun.

So what's to prevent you from calibrating it further to fix the issue? With the extensive set of options available in the calibration menu, I'd think that a user would be able to fix any delay.

Last evening, I introduced my mother to Rock Band. I wont tell you her exact age, but I'm 30 and I'm the second child. I figured she would want to take to the mic and sing along with the songs, but instead she decided she'd rather rock out with the guitar. I had her go through the first tutorial and she actually got the hang of it pretty quickly. We entered World Tour mode and actually made it to a point where we cant get any more fans at our difficulty level (which I don't quite understand why they'd do something like that). I was singing on Medium while she was playing guitar on Easy. I may be able to bump singing to Hard, but it'll be a while before she can play medium.

One interesting comment she made, when I asked if she liked the game was "Yeah, but this isn't really a game."

Heh, cool story. Did she know many of the songs?

My brother that still lives at home got my dad (55) to play Guitar Hero 2, but he ONLY plays "Surrender" by Cheap Trick. It's ridiculous, he actually plays it quite a bit. I must have heard "Surrender" 25 times while I was back in PA for Christmas. He never even heard the song before he played that game. It just happened to be the first song he tried and, for some reason that totally escapes me, he won't try a new one. I think he's losing it.

She knew a few of the older ones, but did not really know any of the music in the game... She decided though that she really liked playing Blitzkrieg Bop, so we played that a couple of times.

That's actually one of my biggest complaints with the game - your band's total difficulty is based solely on the lowest difficulty of any player. So if you have 3 people on expert and 1 on easy, you're playing easy, and will get fans as such.

Funny, my mother tried the game yesterday and she loved it. She asked me how much it was, and I said it's a bit expensive. She asked "$300? $400?" I said $150 and she thought it was a bargain! She loved playing drums; she is in her 60s. She doesn't know any songs but she thinks the game is a blast.

So yesterday I traded in more games (gamecube games strangely still fetch quite a nice trade in value) and was able to pick up the drums for RB. I'm very happy with them, but sometimes it feels when I hit the red pad (I believe its always the snare), it wont register properly. Maybe I just stink and I need to pound on it a little harder, but it doesn't seem that way for the other pads for the most part. Am I imagining things?

When you do a roll on the red pad does it not pick up all of the hits but if you slowly hit it are they all registered?

If so that was a problem with some people's sets at release.

I have yet to do a roll on red (I'm early on easy). This just happens in the normal run of things... I mostly notice it when I say... get those freeform drum sections, smash the cymbal, then switch quickly back over to the high hat and snare.

Same here. I haven't put much time into my drums at all, but the night we bought them and played, the red pad seemed to sometimes miss also, while the others seemed pretty fine. I play on medium, so no drum rolls for me, either.

Nope, for PS3 Rock Band, only the PS3 Rock Band Strat guitar will work

I think most people feel that way when they first use the RB guitar. I forced myself to switch even though you can use the GH control on the 360 version of Rock Band. After a few weeks I greatly preferred the RB controller and it's now annoying to have to go back to a noisy GH ukelele in the rare instance I want to play a GH game.

Last night was quite entertaining... I played with three other friends all evening (three friends who are still on easy/medium, while I've been playing on hard). We hit The Strokes - Reptilia, when the guy who was playing guitar couldnt play it for some reason... so I switched singing to him, and he couldnt sing it either. Being the douchebag I am, I dropped to medium in difficulty for guitar, and medium on singing, and told him to hold the microphone to my mouth for the song. I ended up beating both my band members in percentage with both vocals and lead guitar. That was quite entertaining.

Buy I mic stand there only $15 at guitar center (love playing Vocals and Lead/Bass) 100% on 12 songs on medium (rock out!!)

/side note

So you can use a GH3 or GH2 guitar with RB on 360?

/side note b

My drummer just called and said some local gamers den is having a rock band tournament, winning band gets $1,000.

Believe me, it crossed my mind right after I did it.
I'm using my GH2 guitar for RB on the 360. It works very well but doesn't have the extra fret buttons or the effects switch.

But how much are you going to use the extra buttons? I don't use them at all, except for the end solos.

You may know this, but just an FYI to those that don't... You can use the 360 headset as a mic as long as it's plugged into a regular controller. It works fine, I beat the vocal tour on Hard (EDIT: whoops, wrote Expert the first time...) using that exclusively.

Unless you really like abusing your friends, I find it to be a better way to sing & play guitar at the same time.

The only people I know who sing with a Xbox Live Style headset hooked up to their head is pop stars like Britney. I'm not Britney, so I'll use the real mic... and abuse my friends till I get a stand
