Nice setup passign, To answer your questions, yes you can increase the mem percentage first and leave the FSB@166 to stress the memory to it's limit then back it down to 100% again and increase the fsb so they're synched. If you hit the wall on your CPU overclock that way and know the ram has more just drop the multiplier so you can keep raising the fsb higher.

Good Luck passign! I hope you have better luck then I did! I really cant complain but my memory only doing 166 sucks! Hell maybe Im doing something wrong. Takeing a break for a few days.

thanks buckmaster,

i'm @ 180 now for anyone interested

ram say's its a 179 though and it's supposed to be at 100% lol i'll be uppin it again soon i think anyway cpu temp hasn't gone up any- wonder if its the koolance in effect

umm, hehe, feelin speedy,,, gunna test stability in vietcong

stay tooned, passign hits 180fsb with mem timing 100% 7-3-3 cas2

As far as I can tell I think most every Soltek 75FRN should hit a minimum of 180fsb as long as you
have a decent CPU and decent ram.

You guys that are having bad luck make sure and replace the NB HS compound with some AS3. My second
FRN had nearly no compound on it from the factory.

Dont know BentValve.

passign has pretty much the same setup as me beside me having 3000 and him 35000 and hes already at180 FSB with the same timings I had. I guess my ram = suck?

BentValue can I take the NB H/S Fan off the board with it still mounted in the MB Tray? Before I always did it before installing it and should of this time. If so Ill take it off and apply from AS3 same as I use on my CPUs.

Thanks Everyone!

Dumb question from someone axiously awaiting their 75FRN2-L and having downloaded the manual. I don't see where you can adjust the FSB other then picking between 100, 133, and 166. After seeing many references to other FSBs in this thread, I'm assuming this is an omission from the manual (or that I'm blind). Yes?

hi guys, what do you think about the volcano heatsink/fans? I am looking at purchasing the volcano 11.
Also apart from buying a new graphics card, what is the best way to get higher scores in 3dmark?

Cheers

You just set it to expert to control everything, read a few of the articles linked in the first post for some good info about the bios and screenshots of what it looks like

You being in NZ the Volcano is a good choice and I wouldn't worry about 3Dmark scores too much because it means dick really so the tweaks for helping improve scores aren't necessary. However, the best way to improve your Xaber's performance is to overclock it using powerstrip and add better cooling and thermal compound.

Thanks for that DAPUNISHER, I haven;t actually used thermal compound yet as I was waiting until I put better cooling on. Also do you rate the thermaltake case fans?

ok

update on my status,

found out it won't stick at 180 fsb a game locked up and a file got corrupted lol (grrr)

anyway, i tested 180 twice now, it just won't do it...lol

so i'm at 175 with mem also at 175 8-3-3 cas2

i'm just now workin the multipliers and will update when i'm done.

? though=== do i race the vcore or vdd voltage? and what's the diff between the 2 thanks

They're great so have at 'em

As BentValve suggested you can raise all of the voltages and relax the memory timings to determine what your CPU will max at then go from there to find the sweet spot for performance. The vdd voltage is the chipset voltage and shouldn't be needed yet@180fsb but you can always bump it if you want. The Vcore is the CPU voltage and (as I mention in the first post of this thread ) by raising it you can increase fault tolerance (the same goes for raising other voltages) The vDIMM is the memory voltage so bump them all a bit to help increase your overclocking results, but remember that good cooling for everything including the case is essential to help avoid heat related issues.

ok, i'm back and so quick lol

well, now i dropped the multiplier by 2 was at 13

so i'm at multiplier=11 @ 200fsb mem timing still at 8-3-3 cas2

it feels pretty speedy i'm positive my ram will go way higher from my previous tests stuffs rated at 237mhz i think

another ? someone please answer along with the 2 in the previous post=== u sure higher fsb is better than higher multiplier?? even if goes below 10?

It's dependant upon what the clock speed of the CPU in relation to the FSB is, thus it's a process of trying different combos and using some benchmarks ala Thugsrooks' format to determine what settings give the best performance boost.

I have not tried it myself but I've read that our board has some stability issues with using multipliers less than 10x. I can't say which is faster as I don't have the capability of running@250fsb and lowering the mem frequency to test it and I'd just be speculating without hard data to back it up.

Does anyone have a center/subwoofer installed via the mic jack? I cannot get mine to work at all, I have tried virtually everything
including several driver sets. The jacks have to be enabled via the software which I did, I am starting to think my board is faulty.

The 2 channel output works but I get nothing from the rear speaker out or the center/subwoofer out. The only thing I have not tried is
an actual 5.1 channel DVD..perhaps these jacks only work with an actual 5.1 DVD?

GRR I just broke down my PC to take the NB H/S Fan off to apply AS3 wouldnt you know it I started to use it and I didnt have enough to finish it!! :disgust:

Anyone know if the Antec Silver Thermal Compound from best buy is any good instead of ordering online and having to wait a few days?
