Thanks for the reply. I'm running XP Pro. I'm not sure "which" version of the mobo I have. All I know is that it's an SL-75FRN-L. I was wanting to update my drivers because my computer was crashing when ever I play MOHAA. I can play a few minutes and then it crashes. My processor is an Athlon 2500 Barton. I have 2 512MB sticks of Kingston PC2700 RAM, and a Radeon 8500LE w/ 128MB. I thought maybe my unerversal drivers were conflicting with my video drivers. By the way can you guys give some info as to what the best BIOS settings would be for my set-up?

Soltek SL-75FRN-L
Kingston PC2700@512MBx2
Saphire ATI Radeon 8500LE 128
WD 80GB hard drive
LiteOn 52x24x52 CD-RW
Samsung 12x DVD

TIA

Try again , you must have some sort of conflict with 3D Mark going on, that software can flake out sometimes, I have gone as far
as reformatting my HD to cure such problems.
things to try,
update XP
uninstall-reinstall 3D Mark

Very nice score for a Ti4200 though.

i just installed winxp pro and reformatted the drive to ntfs i think that its because my processor is supposed to be a xp 1700 and its overclocked. I also heard that you cannot post 3dmarks 2001 scores if you dont use microsoft certified drivers anybody hear anything about that? Im currently using the 43.45 drivers on nvidia's website

As of right now, I haven't OC'd any. I'm a whole lot of n00b and a little bit wuss. I would like to try OC'ing but I'm not sure where to start. I'd like to try some "safe" settings for right now. I'd hate to kill theis system when it's only a few weeks old. By the way, got any ideas why MOHAA keeps crashing? I realize this forum is for mobo's, but I thought maybe MOHAA crashing may be a result of the mobo, or a conflict with the drivers.
Thanks again.

There are just so many possibilities that I hate to really suggest anything without looking over the PC myself.

If its just crashing in MOHAA then I would look into your video card being the problem, how is the FPS otherwise?
When it crashes how does it crash? Does it just shut down all of the sudden while you are playing? How long can you play before it crashes? Any more info you can offer would be helpful.

well, what u do is eleminate your ram from the occasion

it's real easy

go into your bios,,, and lower the ram settings instead of optimal ram settings, nock it down to normal

if it still crashes, put the ram settings back to optimal and it must not be the ram then

Would those of you golden flame owners post your +12v rails. I'm curious how this board is reading your 12v. I just got a new enermax 350w and mine dips as low as 11.795.

Frankenfeet,

First have you installed/played any other games and see if it happens? If it only happens in MOAA you might want to check for MOAA patchs same for your video card. I dought its the board or Ram.

What do you mean by standard air? Stock H/S fan or anything air cooled?

Running:
Soltek SL-75FRN-L/75FRN2-L Golden Flame
Kingston Hyper-X 3000 2-256 Duel Channel
Thermalright AX-7 with 80MM Fan

Running Expert mode. X13@167FSB = 2.171=2700+ CPU Temp Avg. 32-34C
All volts still default!
I'll bump it up to 170-175 within the next few days and see if it still stays stable.

I had a antec 400Watt SmartPower PS but it couldnt handle all my Hardware, lights and ATI 9700Pro. When I tried booting up my PC it wold reboot then come up on the 2nd reboot. After I bought a 430 TruePower it has never happned again!
Useing SandraSoft how accerate is I dont know but shows right now 11.86.

Don't believe the board, if you want to know what the actual voltage is then invest in a decent true rms multimeter.
A 350watt Enermax PSU is plenty for most any set-up.

What are you running at now and what is it you are trying to do? Because pretty much nobody is going to achieve the same results even
if you have the same equipment.

You need to understand that when you start cranking things up
all sorts of strange stuff can happen and if you don't know what you are doing you can fry your board.

My recommendations for anyone who is not an OCer is to run this board at 166mhz FSB synced (provided you have some decent ram)
and then stick with adjusting the mutiplier and vcore. You can't go wrong at 166x12.5 and 1.7vcore....and if you have a decent
HSF then try 166x14 vcore@1.8 and you may need to go 1.85 if that does not work for you.

hi..

what's the different between Soltek SL-75FRN-L Golden Flame and the SL-75FRN2-L Golden Flame
is it the same?

their website shows only the SL-75FRN-L and the SL-75FRN-RL model.

is it true that the SL-75FRN-L model going to be out of production soon?

thanks.. just curious..

New Review,

Conclusion

Other than those problems, the SL-75FRN-RL is flawless! It's perfectly stable at 211mhz fsb, it's a great color, it's on par with the performance (at the same frequencies) as other nforce2 boards, and it's inexpensive! If you're looking for a solid 200mhz fsb board, this board is a great choice!

Well BentValve I think I may have figured out the problem with MOHAA. I thinks its the drivers for the onboard sound. I say this because when I try to access the SoundStorm control panel I get a "failed to initialize the audio drivers. please reinstall". I think I'm using regular XP drivers instead of the Nvidia drivers. I can't seem to get them to install either. Since I haven't added a whole lot of programs to my computer, I'm thinking of formatting and reinstalling Windows and then all my drivers again. Anyone else having problems with the Nvidia audio drivers, and could it be because I'm only using 2 speakers instead of the 6 channel setup? Thanks again.

Yep, no soundstorm on our board.

crzyricn, Do you have the 3DMark2k1se patch installed? Or a version with the patch already in it? If not that should solve the unknown CPU issue.

Some Nice pics of Boxen you guys linked! That Golden Flame looks sweet with the window mods eh?

Review added, Thanx mem

hi again..

ok now i have this dilemma...

one vendor suggested me to get the latest SL-75MRN-L model instead of this SL-75FRM-L model since that is the lastest model.

is the MRN better than the FRN? apart from the build in Graphics (Geforce 4 mmx) or is this good at all?

and again, (2nd time around this week) i heard that the FRN is going out of production and will be replaced by MRN model.

wil the MRN perform as well as the FRN?

any thought?

thank you.

I haven't heard anything about replacing the SPP with the IGP as they have their own market nitches. Perhaps they meant the FRN2 is replacing the FRN? If you're lookin' to overclock further the SPP version FRN2 is a better pick IMO, but if you will make use of the G4MX graphics and just overclocking moderately or not at all the IGP MRN is a nice board.

Yup you're right DAPUNISHER

this is the exact words from SOltek sales in Taiwan

Dear Kuman

Actually Soltek is taking Sl-75FRN2-L to replace the SL75FRN-L.
I hope you could realize that for these tow moudles all functions are
the same and even the 75FRN2-L is better than SL-75FRN-L.
You also can think this way that 75FRN-L is the first version and the
SL-75FRN2-L is the 2nd version.
Soltek also provide SL-75MRN-L,it's VGA on board version.
The Sl-75FRN-L and 75FRN2-L are without VGA on board.

Hope this email could help you to understand Soltek's products.

Regards,

thats it.... and i guess i'll be getting the SL-75FRN2-RL

BTW is the RL by all means better than the L version?

i guess with the RAID and Serial ATA support i can't go wrong... can i?

Thanks

Kuman

i guess now i'm a happy man.. although i'll be using this mobo with a less overclockable AMD Athlon XP 2400+ hmmm..
