Where is the best place to buy this board and make sure I am getting the latest revision?

Thanks in advance.

Newegg and eXcaliber seem to be shipping the A1/C1 chipset FRN2 now.

I have been researching what Nforce2 board to get for months, and after it is all said and done, I have decided to go with the 75FRN2-L. All of the features, stability, and oc'ing ability are great...and it not having soundstorm is not an issue for me, as I always use headphones.
You guys keeping this thread going and the forum over at AMDMB have been a great influence and help to me. So, thanks.

So, barring any SARS problem (man that would suck if that could happen that way!) with Chinese shipped products, I will be ordering the mobo once I receive my tax refund. (YAY! refunds!)
One question. I am ordering half a computer's worth of hardware from newegg. Is it fairly certain that I'll get a 75FRN2-L and not a 75FRN-L? I know you guys don't work for newegg, but has there been any word on people still getting the first version from newegg lately?

Finally, here's what I'm going to order. Anything you'd change?

From ExcaliberPC:
AMD Athlon XP1700+ 1.47GHZ (JIUHB:0310UPMW) (1.5 volt)
---------------
From NewEgg:
Soltek 75FRN2-L GOLDEN FLAME
AGPB-P4ATX45F 450W ATX ( 3 CERAMIC Fans with a Rainbow Lighting Top fan) Power Supply for AMD K7 & Pentium4
KINGSTON HyperX 512MB DDR370 (PC3000) DDR RAM
IGLOO 2500PRO CPU FAN
---------------
And I already have:
GF4-4200 oc'ed to 4600 speeds
dvd rom drive
cd-r drive
Two 120 GB Western Digital, 8mb cache Hard Drives
Pinnacle DV500, video capture and render card
Plus two fans (intake and outake) and a Zalman NB heatsink waiting for the Golden Flame's SB.

I have been S-L-O-W-L-Y building this system over the last year, and these upcoming purchases are the final nails in my wallets coffin, so any advice or opinions are appreciated.
Of course, once I finish this, I start planning the next video card upgrade. LOL

Thanks again, Dreamcat

Dreamcat, That looks like an awesome system your putting together! Nice choice on the Golden Flame, welcome to the club.

As far as your other choices, I havnt heard of that power supply you have chosen. If it were me I would buy either an Antec or Enermax P/S. If your going to spend $60.00 get the best product you can for the money. I just bought a 350w Enermax from Newegg last week for $54.00. I fyou read around here, people either say Antec or Enermax when recommeding the best P/S.

Good luck

Thanks Bojax. I appreciate your opinion.
The only reason I went with that PSU, is the research I have done has shown it to be very reliable. Every review and customer review I have read has said its nothing short of great quality and performance. The price for 450watt versus the big name brands is substantial to me. But, if anyone has heard bad things about it, I will keep looking.

Welp Im stuck at X13@166=2.171
Ive tried lowering my mulipier down and uping the FSB but it seems anything over 166 I have to reset the jumper to clear my cmos. I guess I could change my ram settings from Turbo to Aggresive. BTW..whats everyone running for a good burnin program to make sure it stays stable? Ive tried running Sandra Soft and only after a few burnins the program shuts down? I checked my CPU and doesnt go over 34C because I thought it was over heating.

I'd start by relaxing those timings quite abit...sound to me like your ram is the problem.

Thanks and will do. I just figured 2-256 sticks of Kingston Hyper-X 3000 would go a little higher at Turbo speeds then 166Mhz. DAPUNISHER said the samething. Ill give it a try.

Yeah, did it get you over the hump? What Vcore and Vdimm voltage are you using? Did you set the mem frequency to 100% and back those timings off a bit? We want an update!

Well I backed down my timing to Aggressive 7/3/3/2.0 tried X13@170. no good 2 beeps and wont bootup. Same thing using Aggressive 7/3/3/2.0 X11@170 no good 2 beeps and wont bootup. Think it would do any good to bump the Dimm Volts from default 2.5? CPU Volts is default havnt tried raising any volts anywhere. If changing either of the two up and cant reach 175FSB I might as well leave it be? I was hoping for better results from this ram. Im I expecting to much.? I cant lower the ram timing down anymore can I without making up the differance?

Thanks!

Increasing the CPU voltage is the thing to do at this point just keep 1.75v as your max to eliminate any potential heat or voltage issues and you'll be nice and conservative that way.

Your still at cas 2? Man you need to change it to cas 3 if you want to OC your board. Dont worry about the ram right now , worry
about getting your FSB up and after that you can try messing with the ram.

He needs to see what his board can do first and then back it off.

I'd bump up the ram to 2.8 , bump up the CPU to 1.8 and bump up the VDD to 1.7

LMAO : the sink or swim method eh? I guess he'll have to decide if he wants to dive in head first or wade in so to speak. 2,8v on the ram is fine for just testing but no way would I leave it there, besides it's hyperX3000 at that fsb he shouldn't even need extra voltage yet.

AHHH, I think I got what your saying now guys! I thought just changing the timings to Aggressive would help. Just tried 7/3/3/3 X13@170 same damn thing. I also bumped the the CPU Volts to 1.75,Dimm 2.7 and VDD 1.7.

Ill mess with it again tomorrow night. I do know Im tired of resetting my time/date in my bios!

Hey BuckMaster, have you tried just pressing the insert key then powering on the system while holding the insert key down yet? It should allow you to avoid reseting the CMOS.

all this connected through the lan that wires into a Matx xp1700+ (remote connection) in fact im in remote now so i'm using the 1700+ but it's actually goin through the soltek board real cool setup! the soltek is gunna be my overclocked gaming rig while i remote into this 1700+ machine to do irc/webstuff/etc/downloads etc.

well=== i got my bios set to expert mode and i'm chillin at only 166fsb with memory at 120% so it's at 210or something mhz

so right now i'm at 166/210 gunna be uppin it bit by bit so stay tuned!

okok, here's my question

now, lets say i want to chill at fsb 166 for a few days.

can I edge the memory up little by little while staying at 166 to find out what the memory can do.

once i find out what the memory can do, i then stary bumpin up the fsb and the bump shouldn't effect the memory right so I then can know its the board or somethin that's holdin be back and not the memory
