Nice bios screen shots in that review, should help some waiting on there Golden Flames to sort things out ahead of time, thanx mem

That looks like a good cooler Dreamcat should hold up to some serious overclocking too , hope you found some place that has it in stock

The results are in. My cpu temps have dropped 5c. This sk-7 is awesome! Now to see if I can get closer to 2gig. I'll up my vdd and take the vcore to 1.8 for starters. I have a passive heatsink on the south bridge so that should help me up the vdd.

So you managed to make it stable at 211? Very nice!

My original board would never run at 211mhz for the long haul, I ended up staying around 185fsb with that board.
I did finally get a new FRN2 from Googlegear (btw dont buy from Googlegear if you can avoid it)...anyways I just
installed my new board and it works (thank god).
So far I think I have a winner, I started out at 190fsb and am at 208fsb now. I still dont have
any decent ram so I am not going to get much past 214fsb.

Sorry I have not posted much here but I have alot of new PC parts to keep me busy. I ended up buying
an Audigy2 sound card and of course I am still breaking in my Radeon 9800 too.

Impressive numbers  I'm glad you got the overclocker you were after, but what's up with Googlegear? I've never used 'em but many people here are regular customers with them so I thought they were solid

I just ordered the MRN for 89$ shipped from da egg for a clients' build so I'll LYK how it does. Picked up a 120gb 8mb cache Hitachi deathstar for myself too and this thing is definitely faster than my WD 8mb cache 80gb :Q It's substantially quieter and it was only 116$ and I don't expect reliability to be an issue either since it's made in Taiwan.

Yeah I am curious how the MRNs do. I replaced my WD 80gb 8mb with a Maxtor 80gb 8mb and it is about 15% faster
according to the benchmarks. I am quite happy with it other than the fact that it only has a year warranty.
My WD now resides in my secondary machine which may get my first FRN but I am not sure yet since the resale value
of my A7V333 is not too good and it really is a good motherboard. I can sell the Soltek for what I paid for it since the demand is so good and also because I can guarantee a certain amount of speed too.

Well I now know for sure that it was indeed my motherboard holding me back from hitting anything over 200fsb because
I can run it at 214fsb. The PC2700 hits its ceiling at this point and the Athlon 2100+ hits its ceiling at 2469mhz.....this
is very interesting because this CPU could never hit this high on the other board no matter how low I set the multiplier.

I am sure this board could reach much higher FSBs but I need better ram (I still have not purchased any more since returning my Mushkin).

The real star here is the Micron PC2700, I cannot believe it runs so well at these settings.. the bottleneck with these
settings is the Athlon 2100+ ...if I had better cooling and more voltage to it could be maintained though...
214fsb

memory scores seem a bit low for that fsb as I'm using the slowest timings and have higher scores@211mhz but if you ran it 3 or 4 times you might do better. try AIDA32 and see what the read/write scores are and I'll compare them to mine to see if they pick up, everyone is switching to it because it's faster and seems more accurate than sandra.

DAPUNISHER,another new review of the SL-75FRN L@
3DXtreme .

I was very happy to say that my first Soltek motherboard review went so well. From stablilty to overclockability this board surpassed my expectations in every way. This is the best motherboard I have ever used when it comes to ease of overclocking.

The 3Dxtreme review really nails the pros and cons perfectly, it's a shame he didn't use a T-Bred B though.

Yes they are low but the ram was set extememly lax so it could run at 428ddr ..I think it was at like 9/6/6 cas 3 .

That Radeon is smokin'!

That MRN will be here this evening so hopefully I'll have some comments on it tonight or tommorrow. They don't want it overclocked so I'll play with it then put it back at defaults before delivery of the boxen

Found another review dated 21st April here@Motherboards.org of the Soltek SL75FRN-L .

All in all, I'm impressed with the Soltek SL75FRN-L motherboard. While not having all of the features of the Asus A7N8x Deluxe, it's performance is right up there with Asus's board. Further, at a pricepoint of $91 on Pricewatch, this board is reasonable priced enough to warrant my recommendation.

Schweet! How 'bout some mem scores!

The MRN does 211 just as easy as mine using a 1700+A and the vdd is already available in the E1L shipped bios. The IGP 3DMark2k1se went from 4024@133 synch DC-DDR to 5450@211,not bad for integrated vid. 1700+ tops out stable around 2.125ghz but I'll just talk them into 166 synch since it does that@defaults. Definitely a great all-in-one for 89$. The mem bandwidth does suffer somewhat due to sharing with the vid but it still managed high 2900's INT and 2700's float.

I just saw this mobo for $79 on newegg and am about to get it. But it says on the description, SL-75FRN-L/75FRN2-L. Is there a difference I should note between the two? Does this mean I can get either? Thanks.

BentValve has owned both so perhaps he's found some differences but the only ones I'm aware of are that the FRN2 has a different bios, the newest A1/C1 revision chipset, and the fsb goes to 250mhz instead of 211mhz. I'd get the FRN2 if you have some 3200-3500DDR that can take advantage of the added fsb but the FRN is plenty for most and the T-bred is saturated on what it can use before then theoretically anyways.

Can most SL-75FRN-L hit 200Mhz, or does it need to be the newer A1/C1 revision chips?

Seems most can but Im lucky to hit 170FSB. Im using Kingston Hyper-X 3000. Ive seen/read alot of good topics about this ram but not sure if my ram or my board is holding me back! IN the next few weeks IM going to try differant ram and see what happens if no luck Im returning my board to newegg.

I can run stable X13@167=2171Mhz and even X13.5@166=2255Mhz. Ive ran Prime95 and get errors on both settings but have played Spliter Cell for hours with no luckups and also converted a 6 hour movie with NP.

DAPUNISHER and BentValve are the best to deal with reguarding any questions dealing with this board!

It may require added vdd voltage via the CPGeek bios but I believe all wil do 200fsb+ with increased vdd voltage since my FRN has the old A2 chipset and does the full 211fsb no problemo

BuckMaster my friend, either flash the CPgeek bios and increase vdd or RMA and get the FRN2 or MRN since both vdd adjustment already available in the shipped bios. besides down the road if you steal the vid card it'll still have decent graphics via the integrated G4MX.
