Official***Soyo P4S-645DX***Thread

No one else has said anything about this board...It looks awfully nice a lot of features and its predecessor the P4S-645 has some really good reviews...anybody have any opinions on Soyo?

To get this ball rollin'...I thought SiS chipsets were suppose to be inexpensive!...The cheapest I can find this board is $160...that's not low cost!...but, boy does it have a load of features!

I've only seen one review of this board (Tweakers Australia), and it was quite positive. But I've heard a slew of anecdotal evidence against it's immediate predecessor, the Soyo P4S DRAGON Ultra (SiS 645). Instability, inability to overclock more than a few mhz, etc.

Does anyone know firsthand if Soyo has rectified these problems? Or just if the 645dx board is a good buy vs. a feature deprived ASUS P4S533 (no RAID).

yeah, im wondering this too. surely someone knows about this board?

I'm likely to take a gamble and go for it anyway.... it seems to include everything! the price is quite high but considering you get 6 channel audio, raid, nic, and a snazzy 5 1/4" bay with 4 usb 2.0 ports and status lights (ooooh) i dont think you can complain. the chipset has got great reviews everywhere i've read, so i guess its just down to overclocking+stability of this soyo board.

anyone who's got one out there?

If you want a board that will overclock, stay away from Soyo. If you want a feature packed board and don't plan to overclock then Soyo is where it's at. The Soyo board's all have all kinks of BIOS adjustments for overclocking, but they never work like they should. On the other hand they offer a complete package, and quality built boards.

TweakTown has another Soyo P4S 645DX Dragon Ultra Motherboard Review going head to head with an EPoX 4G4A+ [i845G], shows real well. Got a lot of features, not much for O/Cing though...

Yet, another review from TweakersOz with a contrary view of the boards O/Cability...who to believe?

If you're gonna spend $160 on a mobo, you might as well get an Asus P4B533-V or a Abit BG7

A lot of the reviews I am reading regarding this board state that it uses the old 961 chipset and not 961b, or anything like that. However, I recently purchased and on Soyo's website, it states that it uses the 961b chipset.

Odd.

I have it, and am satisfied with stability. I haven't really tried overclocking. However, I am having some odd problems with the board; regarding DMA issues.

WangButter- Your advise is good! I bought the board, but was disappointed in it's performance.
I decided on the P4B533-V and I'm not disappointed!
