i dont think he was that well suited as spidey to begin with.....as long as it was a good movie id go c it.
now on the other hand, i think greengoblin was a perfect choice

Tobey was only in a few movies before the first, and with that lack of experience I think thats what was needed for the part of Peter Parker. Lets not forget that he is suppose to look and act like a nerd. Seasoned actors generally overdramatize and maybe Tobey's willow-washy acting made Parker's character come alive.

YES YES YES! And that's EXACTLY why established actors are utter garbage for comic book movies. The actor can't be bigger than the superhero. See batman for an example. Every damned actor tries to leave their imprint on a series and it turns into a pile of complete and utter garbage (with Jack as teh exception).

Yeah the passing of Spiderman was cheeze and so was the part where the little girl in the fire grabbed his hand. I laughed cause it was kinda lame..However, the movie was awsome.
but it wasn't as cheesy as the slow motion MJ run in the dress to Peter's apartment, now that was bad, as for great parts, the elevator scene with the guy talking about the suit was classic, we couldn't stop laughing, definitely my favorite part.
Oh yeah. the MJ run was bad, I had forgotten about that.
omg that part was so awful.
i enjoyed the movie, but i found those scenes cheesy, plus the part where he tries to not be spiderman and they play b.j. thomas's 'raindrops keep falling on my head', and they do that freeze-frame with that big goofy smile.

heh, i thought the cheesy bits were funny, esp the rain drops fallin on your head. worked perfectly for me
the effects this time were much better. though toby needs to buff up more for his next go at it. think he lost weight or something.

and as for doc oct taking hits. he doesn't ever go down when his arms take the hits. only when he takes a direct body blow. his partially controlled by the ai anyways so i guess he's like a guy on pcp.

i liked it much better then the first one, which had lousy effects that just kinda messed up the illusion. the graphic novel painted opening was also better

I don't know...George Clooney would have actually been the perfect Batman. He fit the persona/look perfectly, but he was unfortunate enough to get the WORST MOVIE SCRIPT EVER WRITTEN

The second he saw the silver plated nipples on the bat-suit he shoulda walked heheh

LOL

Did you ever see that interview with Clooney (I think it was with Jay Leno) where he says, "Keaton built it up...but I drove it into the ground."

Wasn't that the Batman where the had the integrated ice skates in their suits? I've heard abuit being prepared, but that was just riduculous, they have skates just in case Gotham freezes over...I know it did, but still. THat movie was really bad, nothing worse than watching actors that realized half way through production that the movie was going to be bad, so they stop caring.

It?s just a movie though, so I suppose I can forgive it. By the way, what did everyone think of Bruce Campbell?s little usher part? Bruce is the man!
It's possible that Doc Ock has lost all feeling to pain since his spinal cord was "fused". Spidey also may not have been hitting at full force b/c he is not a murderer, he was probably hitting at half force to just try and knock Ock out. But if you've ever read the comics, it wouldn't even matter if Spidey did knock Doc out b/c the arms control themselves and would have still been attacking Spidey... (I think issue 88 or 89 was where the arms fight Spidey w/out Doc Ock)
It's not just pain, he doesn't get broken bones or even bruise (though the latter is forgiveable for a movie). Besides, it's the nerve endings that allows one to feel pain, and unless the connection was severed en route to the brain (and I highly doubt those needles could do that) the signals would still reach it. Anyway, in short: no pain = no feeling = no control.

Who would you rather have as Spiderman...especially in light of Peter's ubernerd status?

just saw it this afternoon, and i think it was excellent. much better than the first movie. more like a 'drama about the life of peter parker' than about 'spider man kicks bad people's butt', but i guess it was like that in the comic also.

I want this movie to make more than that stupid film called "Titanic". That movie was pure garbage and only garnered the highest box office sales through hormonal girls and VERY OLD PEOPLE. PLEASE DETHRONE THIS POS MOVIE, SPIDER MAN!!!

For all you people who want Venom to appear in future Spider-Man movies, the only way that would happen would be if Sony bought the rights for Venom. The character of Venom is currently owned by a different studio and they are planning on making a standalone Venom movie, without Venom's origins rooted in Spider-Man mythos. The only way Sony would be able to put Venom in a Spider-Man movie would be if they bought the rights from the studio and that would be up to the studio.

As for crossover movies, I can't see that happening. Just because the characters are Marvel characters doesn't mean they can appear together. The comic book world operates differently from the movie world. In movies, different studios own the different Marvel characters. Sony owns Spider-Man, Fox owns X-Men, Daredevil and Fantastic Four, Universal owns the Hulk, Lions Gate Films owns the Punisher, and New Line Cinema owns Iron Man, among other studios with their own Marvel characters. To get these superheroes together would require a massive partnership in which all the movie studios would have to agree on distribution rights and, most importantly, money. Only DC Comics characters would have the possibility to team-up as they are all owned by Warner Bros.

Although it is neat to think of all the possibilities, in reality, I can't see it happening.

well no not really. when on painkillers you don't lose control. his mind was controlled by the ai, pain could probably be ignored.

Just saw it tonight (about 6 hours ago at post time) and I thought it was really good. Two things tho:

1) Did anyone else notice heavy "Evil Dead" style camera shots in the operating room sequence?

2) Does the jerk running the daily bugle ever give spiderman a break (more of a comic question)?

The thing that impressed me the most was the absolute perfection of Jameson and the actor they chose for him.

Anyone remember the exact words of his line to his wife on the phone...he was talking about flowers and how much they cost, and something about picking the flowers off his grave...

1) Yep, I noticed it too... it really hit me though when the doc grabbed the chainsaw
2) JJJ is just a lowlife, as far as I know he never will give Pete or Spidey a break.

I'm almost positive we will see Venom and the Lizard sooner or later in a movie. Why? Because they already introduced the characters. They wouldn't introduce the characters just for the hell of it now would they?

To bring Venom into the movie right though, they would need to build it up over a movie or two. Basically, Spidey should be off fighting bad guys and dealing with is personal life. Meanwhile, behind the scenes, Eddie Brock's character is being developed. This will allow us to connect with him. Then the symbiote costume finds Eddie brock and Venom is born. Spread that character development stuff over 2 movies, then introduce Venom in the third for the epic fight with Spidey. People would be dying to get tickets.

I want to see Venom as well. However, do you think they should make the background story for the symbiote suit as well? Seeing's that it came from battleplanet during hte Secret Wars story arc, I think the writers will need to take some pretty big liberties with it to make it work.

yeah JJJ does give pet a LOT of breaks. he even admits to having respect etc for spidey in a few comic books. Its a love/hate relationship heh.

I never noticed before, but after watching Spider-Man 1 (after seeing Spider-Man 2) I noticed it actually has a lot of "Evil Dead" style shots in it, too - like in the final battle between Spidey and the Goblin. They seemed to fit better somehow they so they weren't really noticeable. They were definately much more pronounced in SM2. I think it is awesome that Bruce has another cameo appearance, I hope they keep that up for any other sequels. I wonder if Bruce was hurt that Sam didn't give him the lead in the these movies?

I also noticed the small introductions of the Lizard and Venom, and of course the Harry as the Goblin - MAN I can't wait to see what is next!
