I think a lot of you are missing the point, and that's likely because you didn't read the comics. The comic was always about the troubles of being a superhero, the loss of normalcy, being in love, and soldiering on in the face of pubic distrust. In many ways, the saga of Spider-Man has always been about Peter Parker, not the hero or his actions.
The scenes so many of you find cheesy and laughable were in fact very fitting. They echoed scenes found in many of Spider-Man's books and were very appropriate.
I particularly enjoyed the scenes after Parker makes the decision to quit being Spider-Man. The song was perfect.
Raimi has done a brilliant job, and the writers deserve major kudos for not betraying forty years of fandom.
I can?t wait to see the film again and again.
