Michael Dorn has been trying to get "Star Trek: The Next Generation: The Worf Chronicles" green-lit for a while now. I wonder what this does for the chances of that happening.

I'd watch that just for the hopes of cameos from the TNG cast

Not sure Star Trek is popular enough for them to push people towards their streaming service. Or they're going to bastardize the show in an attempt to give it more "broad appeal".

This is extremely likely, given CBS's track record.

Plus that was the entire MO of Abrams' reboot movies. I very seriously doubt I'll be getting into this series, but who knows. TNG was a significant departure from TOS, and TNG was good even if the first season was basically a write-off. But at least there's one thing that's certain: there's another two year long hype train for everyone to board just as the one for Star Wars is about to stop.

And now that I've read the whole thread, I completely agree with this guy.
I personally eagerly await lots of nonsensical cliché plots to continue the style of the last two Star Trek movies.

I think the Star Trek franchise needs to go into cold storage until someone comes along with some new and interesting ideas (ie. the kind of stuff that makes great sci-fi, as opposed to an action flick).

Ah sweet. I was just wondering about this not long ago. I'd really like to see a Star Trek show that focuses on settling a new human/federation colony right from scratch.
I dunno but my favourite is still the original series (And 6 movies)

It's a pipe dream but if they can't do "Klingons", it would be neat if they could give Enterprise 3 more seasons for the actors available to do it. It was cancelled just as it was really hitting its stride. They could have done the Romulan war, resolved "the traveler" storyline (The staff have gone on to say the shadowy figure was Archer from the future) and showed the actual formation of the Federation. (The series finale was said to be an alliance that eventually lead to the federation. )

But yeah. Not happening.

I hope it fails honestly. It could be the final nail in the coffin of the whole JJ Abrahms bastardization of Star Trek.

Don't care if I sound like a neckbeard. Those movies went against everything Star Trek was about.

I loved growing up watching the originals, I was never a big next generation or deep space nine fan.

Some movies I have liked, even a lot of the new reboots seem more along the line of the originals.

I'll remain skeptical atm, myself.

Then don't watch them. Pretend they don't exist. It would be no different than if Star Trek died with Enterprise. No studio is lining up to finance the old ToS formula rehash again when they can make more off cheap reality tv. It's not as though we'd be drowning in "oldschool" style content if the Abrams universe did not exist.

Short term, you're right, but looking at the bigger picture the sooner we move on from this phase the sooner the suits and the market as a whole will be ready for the next iteration. It may never happen, but if it's going to then Abrams' bullshit is only delaying it. Plus it's awful, and I won't have people liking awful things on my watch.

...Star Trek Beyond, which opens in July.

CBS is required to leave at least six months between the theatrical release of Star Trek Beyond and the premiere of its new project.

Patience.

I see this being a lot like blood and chrome. I mean not bad but not great. Either way it will be cool to see some new trek.

It's doomed from the start if people need to sign up for yet another subscription service to watch it.

On the flip side, both it and the new Top Gear show on Amazon will probably become the most pirated shows of all time.

Last I heard when listening to a consolidated rumor discussion, it may be an anthology type series with the first season being about feds and klingons in the TOS era.

common... it's not that bad... I am just curious about the story line, the timeline of the story to be precise. I would hate to see another prequal... not even parallel timeline, I want a future timeline.
New species, new allies, new enemies, that's all good, but don't forget the Borg and PLEASEEEEE forget Q

I was wondering the same thing too. Given the success of the recent movies, its probably a James Kirk era crew. That would not be all that bad.

You could see the logo through the lens flare? And oil rubbed bronze and the distressed look is in for home design so why not for the Star Trek logo?
