Very disappointing but unsurprising. Reality tv is so dirt cheap compared to scify that the audience the latter needs to justify its existence is usually untenable.
Fun Fact: Ships in 90's trek (First Contact) were CGI and not models. It was just done so well you didn't notice.
It's a rough cut teaser. The final CGI probably won't be ready until December (or even January) since this is a TV show. That CGI is 1990s video game quality.
Series will probably be worse than fanfic, which is saying a lot.

Variety is reporting that after the pilot episode—when Discovery becomes a CBS All Access exclusive—the show will be made to "carry an ad load of 12 minutes per episode" in addition to the $6 monthly charge for access to the service.

Video Games from 10 years ago had better cut scenes than that trailer btw...
It would have to have the quality level of Game of Thrones for consumers to put up with that.Variety is reporting that after the pilot episode—when Discovery becomes a CBS All Access exclusive—the show will be made to "carry an ad load of 12 minutes per episode" in addition to the $6 monthly charge for access to the service.

It's implied that it will air on CBS first, unless CBS is extraordinarily dumb. As for "contemporary issues", gender issues have been explored in every series of Trek, as have police states and governmental overreach. No need to get your panties in a twist if they discover hermaphroditic aliens.
Seriously, six bucks a month and 12 minutes of commercials? I don't fucking think so.
I'd just as well do an iTunes season pass then. ~$2/episode, and you get to own them. $1.50/episode for temporary streaming rights with commercials is not a very good deal. There's nothing on CBS's service I would even want besides the new Star Trek (and if they pull the old series off of Amazon, we're going to have words...).I'll do it $6 per month isn't outrageous provided you get 4 episodes and they don't suck. I also won't pay when the season is over.
