I'd just as well do an iTunes season pass then. ~$2/episode, and you get to own them. $1.50/episode for temporary streaming rights with commercials is not a very good deal. There's nothing on CBS's service I would even want besides the new Star Trek (and if they pull the old series off of Amazon, we're going to have words...).

I still say $6 per month for a 3 or 4 month season isn't outrageous. This is assuming the show is decent and not crap

Huh. So now it's a summer series that'll go up against Killjoys and Dark Matter. CBS may as well release new episodes at 8pm on Friday, and then we can have a full-on Sci-Fi Friday.

I do wonder if that means CBS doesn't have faith in the series though. That it isn't good enough to run during the normal season.

I think that is part of the whole point of why they are doing this. The new Trek is just a way to get resources to build their own walled garden.

My prediction - Since it's going to be shown on CBS it will be tiresome to watch due to being overloaded with commercials each episode and it will suck. CBS is one of the ancient networks that still operates like they're in the 1950's so they'll probably be overly restrictive on the creativity as well. They should have partnered with Netflix instead.

I agree, I noticed it in the thread about the FCC unlock the box. Some seemed pissed that htpcs and such wouldn't be able to skip commercials. I don't love commercials but the content creators deserve to get some money.

It's even more funny since this will be a pay wall show with substantially less ad time than a normal prpgram, but why be bothered with facts.

To be fair the way people access media on Star Trek shows is closer to a pirate fantasy than something like iTunes.

Forgot big bang on the dvr until after it started so went online to catch the first Alco upkeep if minutes. Watched through the first commercial break and I swear there were more ads online than if I was watching the live TV feed. Was expecting one or 2 of the 15-20 second spots that seem to be standard, this was retarded stupid.

What happens is, if the show is popular, they squeeze in more commercials. If it isn't, then they have a set number of them.
So, yes, CBS (and all the other networks) do indeed have more commercials in a show if it is popular, compared to one that isn't that popular.

Just reached an agreement with the NFL to add all CBS broadcast games to the CBS stream. From how the announcement reads, couple of limitations still it seems; you'll likely only be able to watch Sunday games that you would get on the local broadcast, and as verizon has the mobile broadcast contract handset devices may be prohibited.
