She was pretty milquetoast on TWD. Then again, pretty much everyone other than Daryl is lame on that show due to the poor writing, so I guess I shouldn't hold that against her.

Also, the premise sounds like this:
Discovery is set before the original show (a decade or so). So this means they'll probably have the Romulan / Federation War as well as the initial border wars with the Klingons. So this means that the original Star Trek had ships like the Enterprise to go out and explore because they'd pretty much settled their original conflicts (like wars) with other large groups.

So the Voyager series was supposed to be original "hey everybody we're the Humans!" but ended up all timey-whimey because the writers could think of any conflicts (eye-roll) except of the future trying to abort the past. The original was hey, everything is so normal now, let's go on a road trip!"

So this one? Well, could you call it gritty? And we've had our reveal of major aliens (like Klingons) already, so how can we make them I dunno, exciting.

I was just thinking...so while we [should not] see Romulans, there was that weird nod in the Next Generation of the original series Klingons and the new. Maybe they would address it in this series?

EDIT: The old series had the Klingons look like Barbary pirates and well you know what the current ones look like.

I am so tired of "the future sucks, everything is dark, we're all going to die" Scifi stories. I want to go back to the time when ST was optimistic, people were good, and fought evil things instead of conspiracies and themselves.

If so, I kind of WANT it to fail. I don't want the other networks to start thinking that it's a good idea to put their top shows behind an additional paywall on top of our existing cable TV and internet subscriptions.

Don't worry, it will fail. Putting their nerdy TV show on a service people have to pay for to watch that show (and would only pay for it to get that show) is how you break GOT's records for most torrents downloaded.

I hope that you're right. As it is, the basic cable subscriptions don't offer much more than shopping channels and public access TV right now.

I think Netflix outside of USA. But I think it is actually Netflix outside of countries that have networks with agreements with CBS. I think in Canada it's going to be on CraveTV

I'm happy. Star Trek is a creature of television. The movies are just expanded story vehicles.

Sounds like it's gonna be in the J.J.-verse, which I'm a little iffy on but not surprised. Regardless, bring it on!

There are going to be so many streams of this on kodi, lol. Can't wait to watch it in 1080p for free.
