It did look good, I liked how everyone could interact with the NPC's giving quests. I didn't like the guy explaining the video. I still am concerned that its wow in space but I do have renewed interest in it now.

It's STAR WARS, so much STORY content they can use it's GOT to be more than a GRIND FEST.

The dialog-driven thing seems pretty great, EXCEPT for replay value.

First, I'll assume this content is so expensive (to produce by Bioware) that it's intended to be repeated, rather than simply once while leveling. This could be an incorrect assumption.

That said, I can't imagine the course of that conversation changing so significantly that your mission would change in any appreciable way, so the next time you level a toon or want to rerun the mission (because of failure or just to 'farm') you have to do all the same dialog with the knowledge that nothing that's said will change the story in any way. It's a core issue that MMOs face - making EVERY player feel like they're making a difference when they clearly aren't doing anything beyond highly superficial stuff.

Gameplay really does look like WoW. Not a terrible thing; Blizzard's got a strong, player-tested framework.

Most players are going to rush to level cap and end game anyway.

Hopefully you won't have to camp Sith Lord Valium for too long before he drops the lightsaber of OMFGUBER that adds +100 force points and allows for a special manuever called eunuch slice.

Previous articles I've seen have claimed just that - that dialogue choice would have a significant impact on the story and progress of missions. We'll see how much of that they deliver.

Has Bioware given a semi-firm release date yet?

Well of course we're getting closer to release... kind of an odd thing to say. The release date is in the future, so there's no way to get FURTHER from it.

Orly? Heard of Duke Nukem Forever? The release date kept getting further away for quite some time. I suppose you could argue the true release date was now and the others weren't.

I haven't heard of any release date. I've heard of a window in which they'd like to have it out, but I haven't heard any actual date.

I'm talking real release date, not some arbitrary number they make up and try to stick to. If the game ever gets released, then every second before that was closer to release. Yes, sometimes you never know HOW close you are... but you're one day closer than you were yesterday.

And I wasn't really being serious in my original post. It just was an odd sounding thing for the OP to say and I was taking a little jab at him.

Your quest should you choose to accept it: Admiral Palpatine is in the mood for some new tasty delicacies. Gather 10 chilled Ewok brains and win favor.

With how DA2 turned out, I'm weary of this game now.

DA2 is disappointing b/c it appears to be the anti-DAO. People's expectations totally reversed.

Star Wars has a longer history of extremely shitty-to mostly underwhelming games. It's hard to live down to such expectations. That being said--Bioware is responsible for the absolute best of those, and KOTOR was far, far from shitty.

While it wouldn't be fair to expect KOTOR out of this, I can see how failing on that experience would leave people disappointed.

anyway, as far as the dialogue-specific missions go. I can see how dialogue choices-->altered mission details could work by spawning different bosses on the mission, or certainly different outcomes.

Maybe during each characters initial playthrough, the mission choices will indeed limit you until endgame--as your choices change. It could mean that in teaming up with other players, you all have to be on the same track (would have to be limited options to prevent a major clusterfuck of various storylines among all the players).

Then after finishing the game, your same character can return to the quest and mission givers and choose the previous options. I don't know, maybe that's craziness. Sounds like it could work, though.

I would think most people probably expect WoW in a Star Wars setting, which wouldn't be bad. Hopefully, this doesn't turn into another SWG. From what they've stated though, the direction is more towards being story driven and single player driven, which I feel takes away from the MMO experience. Why would I play an MMO when I can just do everything solo?

Granted, I'll still play it because I haven't missed a Star Wars game yet and don't plan it. I even played SWG for like 2 years and it was terrible.

Based on the dev video I don't know how you could expect anything else. Through the entire vid all I could think of is "this looks and plays exactly like WoW". Not really a good thing, IMO - just go play WoW if that's what you want.
