You can change your alignment with Diplomacy. I imagine there has to be other ways too.

What I meany by purify was...er...extremify. That is, let's say you finish your storyline quest with a 90% Dark Side rating and then some uber item comes along requiring 95%. Will diplomacy let you do that or do you get more opportunities for dark side points outside of story?

Yeah, Diplomacy is a tradeskill that you can use to get alignment points. I don't use it, and I'm not at the max level, but I bet you can keep doing it.

Still hearing complaints today about European server queues,one guy I know went on a new light poulated server said ,

Been in queue 2 hours - down to 548. Maybe another 2 hours to go. By the way I rolled on a light pop server after the queues started - but even that now as a massive queue.



4 hours is pathetic. So let me get this right. I get home from work at 4.10pm, login and maybe get in before 9pm? To play for 2 hours?

I bet my queue will be 1000 later lol since its almost 5pm here.

Actually, they did put up a bunch of new servers it looks like. If you look at the server list now it's about half full/heavy servers (even mid-day for US servers) and half light load. Looks like some fail server load planning there. Not sure why these servers weren't open from the beginning of early access so the load would be more evenly spread.

Just curious; what is the physical hardware devoted to any given server? Or should I say, what we from a game standpoint call a "server", ie "Exar Kun Server". At the gaming company's location, how many CPUs, how much ram, HDD or SSD memory, etc, go into running what we call an individual "server"? And of course, what kind of total characters stored on that server, average number of players on at once, etc.

And, for the purposes of this, assume a game that's been out 6 months and everyone is no longer in a week 1 rush to play 24/7.

This particular game uses instancing quite heavy, even in the large open areas, so it's likely that new hardware is being allocated and de-allocated on the fly depending on the load on that server and in particular zones. So there is probably a base configuration for the server when it's initially started, which grows as the population grows.

Odds are they're using large blade clusters for everything. You'll probably never find out the actual hardware specs, but needless to say it's going to be all virtualized and hot pluggable.

Well got my group BH-Merc to 15 and my solo IA-Op to 27 (to play when my group isn't on). I loved the Merc on beta but now I'm engrossed in the Op class story line.

I took Cybertech/Scavenging/Underwold on my Op and I love this craft! Basically, I never have to worry about the best armors because I can make purple armor mods before I hit the level to use them and put it in my armors and it levels up with me. Kaliyo and I have almost a full set of lvl 27 purple gear. With this, I sell any blues or better because my gear is always the best and make decent cash. I've also noticed selling blue ship upgrades on the GTN makes cash. I'm selling each lvl 2 blue ship upgrade for 5k a pop and people buy them up. My Op is up to around 200k credits, 240 cybertech/225 scavenging/210 underworld.

Speaking about Kaliyo, she is an amazing tank when you outfit her well. Right now, she is sitting around 6.4k HP and 24% mitigation. I used to need to heal her on elites and bosses but now I can burn them down fast enough that I don't do a single heal, most of the time. Solod all elite+2 on Balmora and Nar Shaddaa.

My poor BH is remains at 15 until my group establishes game time schedule. He took Armormech/scavenging/underworld. He can make armors he can't even wear yet, lol. I've been using my BH as a scavenging/underworld mule for my OP so I could level cybertech faster.

Oh, I thought they were supposed to increase the pop limits on the existing servers last night. GREAT.

I might be rolling on the AT Guild's server pretty soon in that case.

Blizzard was auctioning off their retired server blades a couple of months ago.

If they handle it like Blizzard did with the WoW launch the queues will get better as they "force" players to spread out. Not because there will be fewer people, but because they'll just raise the server cap. Right now I bet the load a server can handle before it starts queuing players is extremely generous.

That's hilarious ... looks like they pulled off most of the hardware anyways, WTF is the point? I'd rather put that money towards one of the stein's or just donate it.

I have one that's 14. It's different, to me anyway. It relies heavily on being in cover (that you can just create at any point) and being at a very long range. Your shots also have a cast time, but do considerable damage. I like it. It's a fun alt

I played IA-Sniper up to about 22 or so in the last beta weekend, and currently have a level 30 Gunslinger (Republic equivalent).

As Beev mentioned, cover can be a bit clunky (and environmental cover is buggy as hell right now). However, when you start speccing out your character, there are buffs/talents that make it more worthwhile (i.e. first Charged Burst after entering cover is instant cast). And, as long as you manage your energy level, the dps you can put out is very high.

Also, the Smuggler storyline is quite good (so far, IA-Sniper was very cool as well from the bit I've played through).
