Sadly that was 8 man Soa lol, about 4-5 of us don't have a problem with it, the others seem kind of baffled at the idea of intentionally taking damage and inevitably kite the orbs into someone or burst theirs so slowly that we have too many up at once or our mind trap DPS blows.

Same shit different game though lol, we've always had a good core but never people independent/aware enough on their own to fill the other spaces

Perhaps the easiest might be for each person to run as fast as they can into the ball when called out and get bubble/heals. Then it's just target, run/pop, heal, back to biz.

If you let the balls hang around, they can do dmg to more people and make a mess of things (especially for melee).

It's the toughest fight in Ops right now. And I feel your pain. We had to go through a pruning to get a decent group going. Kept having 2-3 people who would do fun stuff in movement fights causing wipes. Oh hey, what's this red thing on the ground? I bet it's a buff!

Ah it's raid night again. Can't wait. HMs going down.

Ouch.... Ended up pugging Normal EV 8 man this week, we had one person get hit by the lightning balls at all for the entire fight. Do you have people scroll their camera to max distance(after adjusting it in the options)? Makes avoiding the lightning balls kind of absurdly easy(the one person who got hit was me btw, I'm a healer and was bored ).

Well, there is standing around Ilum waiting for someone to come out and play. Pretty lame if you ask me.

there was a pretty epic battle on ilum tonight on my server...all kinds of pvp going on.

also did my first matches of pvp tonight. i'm not a 'uber hardcore leet' pvp person, so my take on the pvp comes from a different angle than those players who are claiming that it is broken i imagine. nevertheless, i enjoyed it. won 2 matches, got roflstomped on a 3rd, and since it was my first time playing i wasnt 100% sure what was going on, but i had a good friend explaining it to me, and we had a blast. i think i may have even killed a few people. lol.

tomorrow (today i guess technically) we are going to start doing some flashpoints. i'm excited!!!

Ilum suffers from the same problems that plague any sort of attempt at 'dedicated' 'world' pvp, numbers and incentive. If you don't make it rewarding enough, then it's empty (or arguably worse, only accessible to the 'big' faction). If you make it too rewarding, then it inevitably gets abused and you have scenarios where the 'little' faction just doesn't have the opportunity to participate.

I think it's pretty decent all things considered, you have obvious reason to pursue PVP because you'll complete the daily much more quickly but even when the other faction has no presence you still have a 'backup' plan. Actually I think the biggest barrier to large scale PVP is the graphics lag it presents, it seems like no matter how good your PC is when there's two ops groups clashing your FPS can really plummet.

On my server, which for a while was very Imperial-heavy at 50, it's gradually improved. We get Huttball less consistently and on Ilum there's a kind of an 'ebb and flow' between Imperial and Republic.

As long as you don't take PVP seriously and go into a warzone not expecting to win or lose - it can be fun.

Ilum PVP tends to be back and forth valor grind - it boils down to seeing how long you can stay alive since there really aren't any objectives to complete for a reward [which I find strange]

This is the only MMO I've ever played (besides a few hours of D&D Online after it went F2P) and I am thoroughly enjoying it as a single-player game.

The class stories for a Jedi Knight are very different from a Smuggler or Trooper, so the claim of it being 8 new KOTORs isn't too far fetched.

Most of the side quests are shared, but there are far more of them than you need to stay on-level for the main class quests. So you can have different characters do different side-quests on each planet, repeating some and skipping any that annoy you.

You can also try doing different crafting with different characters, have some be light, dark or neutral (on Republic or Empire), etc. so you should get several months of enjoyment out of the content that is there now even without doing any MMO or endgame stuff.

If you're a carebear like me, pick a PVE or RP server so you can't be griefed during quests by PVPers.

OK, you got me. I'm in.

BUT, not til this summer. I am not plopping down 60 bucks and 15 a month when I dont have much free time. No summer classes at my new university so I will reward my associates with a summer of exercise, eating healthy, and Online KOTOR.

Anyone else doing Juggernaut, tank, total immortal tree?

Great for PVE, TOUGH in PVP...

I need to get my strength up some how...

Health 17130, End 1400, DR 46%, but strength just over 1003...

Have a mix of columi, champion, and centurion gear...

From what I've read, the best PvP option for a Guardian/Juggernaut may be to wear full DPS gear while using the tank stance.

^The above is pretty much true for any tank. You want tank stance for the guard + taunt capabilities as well as the + flat dmg mitigation, but defense, shield, and absorb are pretty bad in pvp (too many attacks go right through them, the abundance of +accuracy and +crit gear push them off the table even for white weapon dmg).

Dinged 50 tonight on my Sorcerer.
Now have to either wait for another healer to level or we pug the healer and begin EV sometime in the next two weeks.
So basically I look forward to the eternally bugged/broken Ilum and PvP...sigh.

The eternally buggy final boss of Eternity Vault.

Yeah omg what a pain in the ass.

Problem 1. Floors not respawning correctly, causing missing platforms between phases and your fall to your death.

Problem 2. Randomly decides to vanish on the final phase (even after their broken fix)

Problem 3. Pylons do not break his shield on direct hits.

Problem 4. Tank loses aggro on phase 3 every time he casts mind trap. This started when they "fixed" him vanishing when he casted mind trap on the person who had aggro.

Spent like 3 hours trying to take him down last night. Closest we got was 6% and then the pylons decided they wouldn't work anymore.

So all pvp, other then battlegrounds, takes place on Ilum? What do you do on Ilum?

You grab the daily/weekly pvp quests on the republic or imperial fleet. Then head to Ilum and ask in general chat to join the OPS group [or maybe they call it something different depending upon your server]. They will let you know where the main back and forth valor farming is happening [usually it's SA/CA or at one of the bases]. If the groups aren't afraid to die - it usually takes less than 30 minutes to finish up the daily - might take you an hour to complete the weekly. Once you're finished - head back to the fleet to receive your rewards [mainly pvp tokens with a chance to receive a gear token].

You can also run Daily PVE mission on Ilum [and Belsavis] which reward you with "daily" tokens for pve gear/mods.

Been playing since a week before the release and I'm starting to get VERY bored with the game.

Started the game with a few friends that I've known since SWG, started a guild (had to spam general to be able to have enough people, lol). Had fun leveling and got on quite a bit to pvp.

Since then I've hit 50 on my sage, one of my buddies is barred from playing anymore due to his wife, and the guild we started hit 180 people. I was bored with the sage so I started to level the trooper...got to nar shadaa before I got bored again. PVP is ridiculously stupid, the sith will constantly exploit in order to get 10 people in hutball on their team. The server is of course unbalanced 4:1 sith:jedi.

The server as a whole seems to be dying (the Constant). I'm hoping they are thinking of merging servers soon because it's pretty pathetic how empty everywhere is...republic fleet rarely passes 75 people during prime time. I remember when I first started there were several instances of Coruscant since there were so many people if I recall correctly.

Ran an ops last week with the guild, that was pretty fun...don't remember which one it was but the boss kept jumping up and down causing a lava island to sink.

Don't want to cancel but I'm extremely bored already

You're bored but you haven't even finished the Ops yet? You're missing out, I still look forward to doing them each week with my friends.

And each side is equally ready, willing, and able to queue-bug the warzones. Fortunately that should be getting fixed tonight I think during the patch.

geez. 180 people in your guild? why would anyone ever want to manage that?

I guess the cause of the issue is that I started a new job and don't get home until 6:30-7...I don't necessarily feel like being stuck doing an Op for 1+hrs. I'm to blame for that.

180 (alts included mind you) is nothing. We may be one of the bigger guilds on the republic side, but i've heard that some of the sith guilds are 500+. That puts it into perspective how unbalanced it is.

Server merge please . I miss how SWG Pre-cu Coronet was...now that was busy!
