Failure rate on grey missions I think is 0 percent, then on green/yellow/orange it gets progressively higher; I'd probably say something on the order of 2/5/10.

However if you're hunting for the 340 level Mission Discoveries your best best are the Slicing 41-48 level "Rich" missions; on Imperial side you'd be looking at "Taking Back Control", "The Fly on the Wall" and "The Aratech Bounty". Further I'm not certain if Slicing 50 "Moderate" missions can bring in the 340 discoveries; I know the "Abundant" ones can but I definitely find their success rate to be lower than the "Rich" ones on the previous tier.

Additionally I didn't actually realize until just recently that the slicing 'augment' missions can also bring back Mission Discoveries as well; I'd only been doing lockboxes for the longest time but started running augment missions in preparation for whenever they implement 'crit' crafted orange gear, which presumably will become the new 'top end' as you take armorings out of PVP / tier gear and fit them into orange gear with augment slots.

I don't wanna respec my 40/0/1 Juggernaught tank for pvp, he is great for PVE...

Instead I am gonna do a Powertech BH and Focus on the DPS/Torch tree...

Huh..didn't take long for this to happen:

"BioWare and LucasArts are excited to announce the Star Wars™: The Old Republic™ Friends Trial starts tomorrow, March 6th!* For a limited time, players who have an active Star Wars: The Old Republic subscription will be able to invite up to three of their friends to explore the Star Wars™ galaxy.

The Star Wars: The Old Republic Friends Trial is an opportunity for players to invite three (3) of their friends to take part in a 7-day trial of the game. During this trial period, invited players can explore each of the four Origin Worlds, and experience the opening adventures for each class as they start along their epic journey."

it's a little mind blowing that any MMO wouldn't have a limited-time trial. it's a pretty hefty investment to make on word of mouth.

exactly my thoughts. Now that those who would buy it on impulse have already done so theres only those still debating ot grab. A trail just lets others experience the game before deciding. im sure in the long run bioware will get more subs from it. I know i have two friends who have used my account as a "demo" before deciding if they wanted to play or not (1 did, 1 didnt)

WoW wasn't "free up to level 20" until last June, 7 years after release, but it is a good idea for TOR.

WoW has had free trials forever, though.

I think once upon a time, they were limited through invites sent from paying account holders.

I’ve got a couple questions for anyone who doesn’t mind helping a newbie. I went Powertech and chose bioanalysis/biochem/diplomacy. Is diplomacy worth my time?

What low level BoEs are worth trying to sell? In WoW, there’s a clear twink demand for good health/X stat level X9 greens, but with the 1-49 warzones I don’t think that is much the case. I got some orange level 11 BoE weapon. Am I going to be struggling for credits early if I don’t start playing the market?

Diplomacy is worthwhile as an easy way to gain light/dark side points and also provides medical supplies mats for biochem; but that's only necessary for blue/purple (rare/reverse engineered) patterns. On my server the grade 5 blue "Experimental Serum" and the grade 6 purple "Radioactive Paste" are both pretty strong sellers. Lower level stuff is hit or miss for any of the 'mission' professions; all depends on who's looking. Also you'll get companion gifts through it, which if you actively pursue filling up your companions affection bar can gain you a lot of XP or make some cash off of by selling the gifts.

There's not really a twink economy since you gain XP at a pretty decent pace in warzones but money flows with ease at 50 so you can have some luck selling low level gear, mostly to alts; for biochem well itemized blue/purple implants would probably be the way to go or maybe even blue stims (flasks) for levelling. Personally I've dumped a lot of cash into gearing up alts but I also have more than I know what to do with.

Money generally isn't a problem, though mounts and mount training will run you about 500k when all's said and done at 50 but you can get by with just the first tier (55k or something) easily. Also training up your skills will get a bit expensive in the 30s but it's still not bad, just pick and choose which ones actually benefit from skilling up. Almost all of them aren't going to be much more than minor damage increases which you can skip on abilities you don't use that much with no problem.

The announcement that 1.2 (their lifeline to keep many bored players going) is now delayed til April isn't going to help active player counts once it becomes more known.

And holding server transfers until late April/May at the earliest is crushing for all those on low pop servers.

I will still be playing but I just hope my server doesn't lose any more players til then. It went from being pretty good at launch to meh lately.

No, you won't be able select specifically which Warzone to join after 1.2 goes live. Instead, Void Star will be changed so that Republic can fight Republic and Empire can fight Empire, a team format shared by Huttball and Novare Coast. "That means that Void Star will fire more often when you're on a server where it's a faction imbalance…There's going to be less of a Huttball bias. We plan to move Alderaan into that group as well, but it won't be ready for 1.2. We're very conscious of the fact that we have servers with a faction imbalance and we have to deal with that."

I don't like Huttball that much but I don't agree with that change to all WZs. I suppose that's easier than putting in cross server queues. :hmm:

What low level BoEs are worth trying to sell?

On the Bergeren Colony PVE-RP server, Republic side, low-level consumables (medpacs and stims) don't sell very well, partly because people get enough medpacs from loot drops.

The (you + companion) and blue (extra heal over time) pacs are worth crafting for your own use. The blue buff stims are also nice for boss fights since the stim effect lasts after death ("defeat").

Blue or purple Implants sell, since they don't drop often and people have 2 slots for themselves and for each companion. If you're lucky and craft one with an open augment slot it's worth extra.

The preview trailer for 1.2 does at least look very promising.

It sucks that they're basically dumping Ilum (no rewards at all from 1.2 to whenever their next overhaul goes live), because our server seems to be one of the few where it's actually fun.

Livestream of the guild summit just ended... there's a lot of changes coming. D:

Yeah looks like they're giving up on it for now and going back to the drawing board.

I liked this stat: 80% of all level 50s playing have under 400,000 credits.

Both my 50s fall under this category atm....

With that said, my next two toons are running around leveling all epicd out
