Which one would you recommend for someone who likes SWTOR but not EQ. Aion looks intriguing because I like the skimpy outfits
Honestly, the question is WHAT do you like about SWTOR? If it's what I think most people liked - the story lines - then really, none of the above. Stick with single player titles that have solid, rich story lines. Really, that's what SWTOR is - essentially 8 full fledged single-player campaigns in true traditional Bioware storytelling style with a persistent multiplayer component wrapped around it to keep you playing after the meat and potatoes are done.
LOTRO had a nice overarching story line to it, but in my opinion there were so many side quests that did nothing to further the main story so the main story line got lost quickly.
Star Trek Online actually has some well written missions that provide a fairly unique take on the history of the Star Trek universe. Unfortunately the gameplay of STO gets stale and repetitive very quickly.
I loved Fallen Earth. I thought the overarching story was absolutely great. The atmosphere of the game was spot on. The game itself made me actually feel engrossed in a post-apocalyptic world, and the gameplay was... non-traditional and somewhat refreshingly different.
Vanguard is a nice game. Just no story behind it. It's a huge traditional MMORPG world though, and something kind of different.
EQ2 is, imho, much the same. There's a bit of story and lore there, but nothing worth mentioning. Just a big world to go beat up on.
I'm looking forward to Planetside 2 because, well, it's not a RPG. As much as I suck as FPSes, it's basically a huge, persistent, objective based version of Battlefield 3. Lots of action going on, and lots of stuff to do, and lots of roles to fill.
