I think I'm gonna uninstall this game. It's annoying that I need to find a group just to get out of the start area, and this game is eating up a huge chunk of my hard drive.

If you are referring to that first instance on the ship leaving the first planet it is completely optional. Even then it only requires one other person not a full group as it is pretty easy, my wife and I duo'd both of them with several different class combos.

...to do what? There are a few "Heroic" quests on Hutta and Korriban but they're optional, or doable solo once you get your companion and a little gear/patience.

I don't have a companion, and very little motivation to do any of the few missions I have left. I should have been off this rock days ago. It's just not a good game. I'm not even slightly exaggerating when I say it is a WoW clone with a SW license.

You say that like its a bad thing. Wow is supposedly the best MMO so why not mimic it? I didn't play wow but I'm sure you're right. I had no desire to play a game that didn't have a story.

SWTOR is awesome IMO and I've had hours and hours of fun with it. I don't do flashpoints, heroics or anything with other people. I still hate that its an MMO since I completely ignore the fact there are other people in the game. It pisses me off because I'll be fighting a mob in order to touch some thing I need for a quest and some asshole swoops in and hits the quest thing while I'm fighting, and I have to wait around for it to respawn. The only thing that pisses me off about this game is that its an MMO, they should have a true single player only mode where I am living live alone the way I like it.

Other then that, the game has had great story elements and is overall a lot of fun to play.

Personally I've had months of fun playing through the different class stories in TOR.

But if you're not having fun, then don't play it. That doesn't make it a bad game, just one that you don't enjoy.

I don't enjoy real-time strategy games so no Starcraft or Total Annihilation for me, I stick with turn-based like King's Bounty.

The starter planets only take like... a couple hours to finish if you do absolutely everything. You get Khem Val at level 10 or so. Starter planets take you to level 10-11ish.

You just described why TOR failed. The story gives it value as a single player game, but who wants to pay a monthly fee to play a single player game? Not to mention the single player experience is marred by MMO elements.

I don't see how you can call that "awesome".

iirc, you should have a companion by level 6 or so at the latest. You don't need to do Black Talon to get out of the starter area, as mentioned. It is the first flashpoint, and is completely optional. On top of that...it should be an easy ride for you and a companion by level 11 or 12.

fwiw, I thoroughly enjoyed the storyline through Sith assassin. It was very compelling, and fun to play throughout. I even enjoyed running HM flashpoints later on with guild and with Pugs, even though I find it the least compelling parts of the game, overall.

I haven't logged back into my account since cancelling in August, but I'm not liking what I hear. From what I understand, it seems I can unlock these things permanently according to how much I have already paid in.

I do want to play around on my assassin some more (though I imagine I am completely locked out of things to do, and the gear which I already grinded my ass off for, and paid for).

Leveling the sentinel some more would be fun...except...oh; I was crafting like a bastard on that one giving her grape, massively over-leveled gear every 5 or so levels. Can't do that with broken crafting, now.

well that is your problem..
you havent even started the game yet.
the game is far from just a WoW clone and now with 4 chars to L50 and working on #5 the game is still fresh thanks to the story and the companion system.

there is NOTHING ( even the heroics and they are optional anyway) on any of the starter planets you cannot get done with your companion and be off the rock in less than 2 hours.

you have to do the class stuff first then plow the rest with your companion.

actually I believe since you were a sub holder you get to keep your gear. and you are locked out of alot less than a new FTP player.

ive been paying since day 1 and will continue to pay them.

the game is awesome and will continue to get better and better..
HK-51 rocks and he is new content.
and the MMO part mixed with the story is a wet dream come true..

Different strokes for different folks..
I still love Huttball and pretty much level off of nothing but warzones and the story and flashpoints.

yup L50 quest.
need an L50 and at least an L14 on the opposite side as well as @ 150K credits plus about a day or 2 to finish it.

and yes he is basically HK-47 same personality and voice.

my only complaint is in the existing stories he is not written in.
so after you unlock on your 50 you can either spend 1 million credits to open him on a newbie or spend about 7 bucks to use coins..
he is amazing as companion especially at low levels since he destroys everything.
but cannot participate in conversations like a normal story comp would.

so I switch him out every time there is a convo..

but man what a beast..
has an ability that 1 shots silvers no matter the level.
he comes geared out in all L51 level gear so already awesome at 50..

but it will cost you to get him geared for your lowbie.

I just had a friend help with all the end fights. they are all ridiculous.

but they want and encourage grouping.

If you subscribed in the past, you are a "preferred" player. In the next patch, preferred players will get 4 skill bars.

I haven't got far so 2 is enough for me, although they are almost full.

I think things like crafting/companion skills may still be restricted though. I know a lot of things are.

You probably are not "interrupting" his special attacks to stop them from doing damage.

The final Jedi Consular fight is like that too, there is one attack that will 1-shot kill you regardless of gear unless you interrupt it. I died a couple of times before I read up on that and fixed my UI to show his cast bar.

If you can't tell when an enemy is casting or using a special attack, go in to the user interface editor and make sure the target casting bar is visible, somewhere you can pay attention to it, and large enough to read.

Thanks. I had read up on it and yes, I need to interrupt it and you are precisely right, I don't know when to interrupt it. I will need to go into the UI as I'm sure that is my issue

It's the most important change for high-level play, groups, and -- of course -- PvP.

A WoW clone would of been fine if they cloned WoW 2010/2011. They cloned WoW 2004.

Yeah I think this is honestly my problem with it at this point, too. In recent months I have really gone away from online gaming and the idea of me needing anyone's help online to do anything on the game is a big turn off for me. Just to give you guys an idea, I solo grinded my WoW toon to level 65 without running very many quests. I guess I am a lone wolf kinda player by nature.

Anyhow, sorry to be neg on the game. I'm sure plenty of people love it, it's just not for me...which is a shame because I LOVED KotoR 1.

I can't think of any part of the game (5 alts, 50, 40, 37, 25, 24) where I've needed to group with anyone. As mentioned above, you can choose the non-grouped shuttle to the capitol world, and Flashpoints / Heroics are all optional. So it can be played entirely as lone wolf where you just happen to pass by others.

But again, if it isn't fun for you, you should move on to something that is. The point is supposed to be having fun, not forcing yourself to do something because other people say that it "should be" fun

you dont need help once you get your companions and gear them out..
you never have to even talk to another player if you dont want to.

everything is private instanced that matters.

like I said you havent even made it to the game.. you are in the tutorial..
get your companion get to your capitol world and get your ship then the game really opens up.
