Old AV was awesome because it was a server only fight, could take days or weeks to get to the warmasters and kill them, usually requiring the gods. After BC it turned into cross server bs and zerging the end with 40 people going each way, usually never seeing each other. Once in awhile you would get a few people trying to play a little defense, and the occasional turtle at the bridge. Boy those were fun days shooting shadowbolts 1 shooting everything but tanks. Then they fixed or changed something, I dont remember what but it turned into a zerg and thats more or less how its been for the last 3 years.
You know what was also cool about it? LOOT DROPPED!!! Enemy players could drop gear. Im not sure what the best stuff was but I know you could get blues. So Im thinking if blues dropped there was probably purples, but Im not sure.
Also, all the little side stuff made it so cool. Remember the chopper thing you could get? I dont remember what all you had to do but after doing some tasks you got rewarded with one of those wood chopper things and you could control it.
And what about the wind riders you could rescue? Eventually they would take off, I think with turn-ins, and do bombing runs on the enemy team.
And then of course there were the wolf and ram riders. Turn in 20 hides and capture 20 ram/wolf and you could send off 20 mounted elites that would path all the way to the other sides general attacking everything they came across.
No MMO Ive played has had a battleground or whatever you want to call it to match AV.
