Hope there's going to be a demo then, there is no way in hell I am going to buy a 3rd person view without trying it first.

There would be no way to do combat correctly in this game, (coming from a beta player) third person view is the only view that makes sense, when you are fighting a mob and trying to keep track of party members looking for quest items, etc. You really need to be able to move the camera independently from your characters POV. If I am fighting some boss guy and I am jamming 1 for basic attack and hitting 2 for a special and I want to look around to see if there is anyone else around to warrant an AOE attack or another higher damage single attack, i cant do that really WITHOUT third person view. I am having a hard time imagining how this game could be played first person.
So you aren't' interested because it's not a different game...
You've contributed how?
I'm sorry, did I bunch your custom George Lucas autographed panties or something?
I've contributed by:
1. Playing for the last two days
2. Testing what Bioware wants tested
3. Submitting quality and bug reports
4. Playtesting the environment to see how it comparatively fits with other MMORPGs.
And how have you contributed?
Honestly, SciFi MMO's belong with a hybridized MMO/FPS control scheme. Seriously, if you going to have guns shooting all over the place it's a disservice to the world at large to go "click...wait".
I love it when they try to fix a quest that was working in the previous patch and now that they tweaked it, i cant complete my class quest.
Report it,that's what I did when I was beta testing.
Yeah i think that is the point of testing...
Well just thought I would point out it is very unlikely you participated in what Bioware WANTED tested, right now they are trying to get lvl 40+ (chapter 3) tested and space combat (~lvl 16+) seeing as you only played for 2 days i dont think you managed to get that far (if you did however, good on you) The starter planets have been tested and retested and then tested again just for kicks. So anything below about level 20 has been tested. The real reason Bioware is sending out so many invites is not for bug testing as much as it is for stress testing the server, that's why they had a space battle stress test on friday i think.
That aside, I personally like the game, it is similar to WoW except starwars universe, if they work out the bugs and provide good support at release we could have a quality MMORPG.
all im allowed to say about the old republic is im not allowed to say that the smuggler campaign is fun and the voice acting makes you care about every quest and want to do them to further the story not just so you can level up not allowed to say that at all so I wont
And you probably can't say that the light side and dark side options wont be as clear cut as KOTOR. I also can't say that I as a jedi knight took advantage of a girl after her mother died on tython and had sex with her.... Those however were dark side points well spent :whiste:
pewpew it was a good weekend in squadron 367
It's been fun, went trooper commando with a bit of Jedi on the side. Going to try to make it to the Essex before beta is over tonight.
So you guys who are Beta testing, anyone playing without an SSD drive?
I heard for MMOs SSD drives make quite a difference, any truth to this?
Well, I'm not impressed. I have never played an MMO before and it seemed like the game just assumed you had, however I couldn't get into it. Tried the first mission and got bored right away. Experiment in MMO done already.
I really wanted to like this game. Oh well, my wallet will be happy
