Uh, how about no? You kinda need to prove to a raiding guild that you can A) Do what is required of you the entire encounter, B) Fit in with the group, C) Commit to this group of people for the foreseeable future. Hint, we're not randoming out loot for a reason because we see loot as payment for services rendered in arrears. Some guilds are more douchey than others, that's a given. Success can = ego inflation and elitism, and sometimes justifiably so if the content is legitimately hard enough that a group of random, semi-coordinated people cannot complete it easily.

The new LFR in WoW is perfect for you if you want to see the content, get some mild upgrades, and keep rolling alts. I'm enjoying it when I can queue with some guild mates and just spend a couple hours basically dicking around with encounters that normally require a bit more concentration from us in normal and heroic mode.

I don't think you understand what I mean, you make it sound like I'm saying "Invite me and BTW let's random for loot instead of DKP so I can get phat lewts nao". I'm not saying that; I have no problem with DKP systems that mean it takes 2 months before you get anything.

What I'm saying is that even when your skill(referencing your point A) is not in question and ability to meet time commitments(C) is not in question, you still have to jump through social hoops. And sometimes these social hoops come before a trial invite and sometimes they come after a trial invite, it varies. I prefer a guild where guild chat is freed up and you're expected to have thick skin; how can you not fit in with that kind of guild, unless you take everything personally? Which is easily remedied by a boot from the guild if you can't take a joke.

This reminds me, are all raid loots thus far dropped, or is there also a system where everyone in the raid gets a certain type of "raid currency" that can be saved up to buy gear? And just because they don't have that system now doesn't mean it can't be done for expansions. EQ didn't add that stuff for 6 years. For anyone who actually knows EQ, think Phosphenes from Solteris.

When I was playing in the Thanksgiving weekend beta. I was trying out Bounty Hunter Mercenary. Overall I found BH to have a nice storyline and fun to play. For those who did not play BH yet and plan on doing so on launch. Watchout when "Dead From Above" skill it's a aggro magnet that's for sure.

When my early access for SWTOR starts. I plan on playing Imperial Agent Operative. Then going for the medic in the skill tree.

Learning on your own is more fun. This is a pretty amusing little post though.

when I had 40 hours a week to play video games I agree, but now that time is limited I must maximize every minute of play =P

"But remember, when I talk about "raid gear", that's either the lowest tier raid gear of the current expansion, or old expansion gear. Selling the current expansion's highest gear simply did not happen, except in shady back corner deals for millions of plat, they were NOT put on public display, probably because they didn't want to get caught by their guild. At any rate, those deals are insignificant to the greater game, tradeable gear keeps gear flowing to new guild members without them having to raid 3 months to get stuff, and it does NOT stop people from making new toons and continuing to subscribe, it in fact encourages people to make new toons."

After being involved with both randomly rolling for raid gear and a point system I can say I'll never go back to randomly rolling again. Why should someone who is on their very first raid get gear over someone that been raiding 15+ times. I seen this happen were someone on their very first raid got the best drop in raid and it cause some major riffs from the people who put in some major time and effort and then watch someone on there first raid get it. That shit sucks and having a point system rewards the people who are dedicated. Also, this stops someone from getting gear quickly then bolting for the next guild. I hate guild hoppers with a passion they are nothing but leeches.

I have never been involved with randomly rolling for raid gear. I was merely describing that on Firiona Vie server, everything is tradeable; raid guilds still use DKP, or at least, every raid guild I was ever involved with did. Hand-me-down gear did not go to people on their first raid either in guilds that had a formal procedure, obviously in guilds that didn't it's theoretically possible that a member would informally choose to give it to whoever they wanted.

Just saying, I wasn't sure if you were somehow tying all-tradeable loot with random rolls; they aren't related.

For those of you that took advantage of the Pre-launch guild program, your guilds have been assigned to servers.

Site is getting hammered at the moment, however.

Blind bought this game (the digital collector's version). Hope it's fun.

After Rift I swore I'd quit my drug habit (MMORPGs), but I'm back for another hit.

I'll be ultra casual this time around (said that last time though).

Looks like BH for the Sith Empire is my ticket to the show.

Which class is the one that I've seen in screenshots ducking behind some kind of shield, and does that work in PvP?

Imperial Agent and Smuggler classes have that shield, and yes, it works in PvP.

I'm not sure of it's defensive capabilities, but a lot of IA/Smuggler abilities require you to be behind cover (either that shield or environmental cover).

Is there a cold and hard reality to face for anyone who thinks they can pvp from range and harass the enemy? Do ranged weapons have a less chance to hit if target is moving?

Have they said when that will be? I preordered on July21st, so if it's based on that I should be fairly close to the front I think.

It's on their FAQs,

How will I be notified when Early Game Access begins?

You will be informed via an email sent to the email address registered to the Star Wars: The Old Republic account against which you have redeemed a Pre-Order Code. Emails will only be sent to accounts which have redeemed a Pre-Order Code. The start of Early Game Access will also be announced via the official Star Wars: The Old Republic website.
