Is there a cold and hard reality to face for anyone who thinks they can pvp from range and harass the enemy? Do ranged weapons have a less chance to hit if target is moving?
none.. and ranged dominate right now in this game..
casters and shooters alike..
Snipers and Gunslingers are especially nasty for single target DPS..
Mercs/Commandos dominate at AOE engagements..
right now you really are at a disadvantage as a melee saber class compared to the ranged classes.
they are working on evening that balance but at the close of beta it still existed.
was not uncommon to see BHs troopers Snipers/Gunslingers with 2x the damage and 2x the kills in WZ's
I had a L30 Sniper in last phase as well as an L45 Maruader the Mar would put down solid numbers.. 150-200k max but was not uncommon to see 300-450k damage for the ranged classes.
Have they said when that will be? I preordered on July21st, so if it's based on that I should be fairly close to the front I think.
As far as warzones go, I was reading that the game equalizes everyone so that 10s can be in the same ones with 50s? Now, that's easy to do I guess for giving everyone the same hit points and whatever but does this mean everyone has the same abilities in warzones? Low levels are granted extra ones or high levels lose abilities, or what?
But as for open world PvP even if they cut the damage of ranged classes so they can't slaughter, the idea of being able to inflict annoying damage at range where you can't be chased down appeals to me.
no you get no other abilities than what is available to your level..
you get base damage and HP rasied to L50 level.. however.. L50s with PVP gear become nearly immune to anything but another L50 with PVP gear as well..
was very frustrating the last few days in beta to be beating on an L50 and them flat laughing at you..
the damage at ranged is way more than "annoying" it will flat kill you.. and fast..
A headshot at L50 will take over half your life.. and if you cannot close that 30M fast you are a dead man..

Take for a sample 'Leg Shot' for Sniper its max range is 30.

When I was playing in the SWTOR Beta I got Bounty Hunter to level 28. Bounty Hunter has a skill that makes them run faster. But its only active if you are not in combat. IA has a skill that makes them run faster as well. I'm sure its the same which is outside of combat.

that would be sprint and all classes get it at 14.. the BH does not have an additional run buff.
I said nothing about a additional skill. I said BH gets a skill which makes them run faster. Plus I only played BH in beta. So I did not know all classes get it since I only played BH.
no worries.. think of it as your first mount as technically that is how it behaves and works.
wut, no literal mounts? Which would mean either landspeeders, or uh...whatever those things from Hoth that you ride are.
Hmmm I have a really frustrating problem with the launcher. It is happily preloading the assets but I had to download the 13GB of main assets 2.5 times. It downloads the files then claims there is a problem and it needs repairing. I got past the main assets but its now stuck on the english assets and its redone that 4GB twice now and its on the third time through.
So far I've downloaded near on 35GB in preload assets. The weird bit is the Windows dialog for size of the directory which says the size is 34.6 GB and the Size on Disk is 19.0 GB. I've never seen it that way around before, makes no sense.
I am running the launcher as admin, anyone know what is going wrong/saw this in beta and has a workaround?
With that said, some users may notice that their game client folder is much larger than 27 GB on their system. This may be due to having redundant files from previous versions of the client. If you need to clear up space, we recommend completely uninstalling the client and downloading and installing the launch game client. Again, well update this post with more instructions when theyre available.
