Sniper is hella fun, but yeah the cover was super buggy and annoying at times; hopefully they fix that soon.

I just tried logging into my server "The Red Eclispe" (9.20pm here) I'm 880th in queue so I might get in by midnight lol for awhile.

As many of you know, we're experiencing high load and corresponding queues on some servers. This is to be expected during launch, as a high number of people want to play the game, and for long stretches at a time.
...snip...
We strongly advise you to not create new characters on these servers, unless you are prepared to queue to play.

Good god. I better fire up my PC as soon as I get home.
Can you just leave your PC on and stay logged in all day, or do they eventually kick you for being idle?

Cheers and good luck in getting in with a short queue!
Problem is I created my classes on day 1 (early access) so was fine back then, however most of the European English speaking PvE guilds have gone to "The Red Eclipse" ,I get very good pings in game like I stated earlier 22 to 50, normally around 30ms so don't really want to lose my level 26 Jedi.
Hopefully they will get it sorted in a few weeks.
Worth creating an opposite faction character on another server for now until they get sorted? At least that way you can play rather than just queuing for several hours each day.

I don't understand why they don't just open up free character transfers for everyone for the first 2-4 weeks of the game so we can all balance out the servers for them. Oh well.
what is the point of all these separate virtual servers in a modern game anyway? within each server the game is heavily instanced, so why add another layer on top of that?
They kick you out after being idle for a set amount of time (no more than 30 minutes, IIRC).
Simple answer:
The required capacity for the game servers exceeds the capacity capabilities of a single physical server. Thus, creating a virtual instance of the server across multiple servers allows it to be scaled on demand depending upon the amount of players at any given time. Low capacity? Scale it down to two hosts. As people login, it will increase the available resources from the resource pools.
but that's exactly what's not happening. why is 1 pve, east coast, n. america game server full while many others of the same type are only lightly loaded? why are customers unable to play their toons while transistors are unused?
I have one that's 14. It's different, to me anyway. It relies heavily on being in cover (that you can just create at any point) and being at a very long range. Your shots also have a cast time, but do considerable damage. I like it. It's a fun alt
I played IA-Sniper up to about 22 or so in the last beta weekend, and currently have a level 30 Gunslinger (Republic equivalent).
As Beev mentioned, cover can be a bit clunky (and environmental cover is buggy as hell right now). However, when you start speccing out your character, there are buffs/talents that make it more worthwhile (i.e. first Charged Burst after entering cover is instant cast). And, as long as you manage your energy level, the dps you can put out is very high.
Also, the Smuggler storyline is quite good (so far, IA-Sniper was very cool as well from the bit I've played through).
Thanks guys. :awe: I plan to start playing on the 25th, hopefully they sort out the queue issues by then.Sniper is hella fun, but yeah the cover was super buggy and annoying at times; hopefully they fix that soon.

Noob question: can you transfer items to an alt? If so, how?
My knight has some (unbound) light armor bits that would help if I start up a consular alt. This is on Begeren Colony so I can't give them to an AT player.
Anyone else playing a Powertech?
