Anyone else catch this?

http://www.swtor.com/node/313532

I am curious if they are increase valor decay after each player death, or correcting issues where you sometimes get no credit/valor for a kill when you should have.

I am leaning towards a nerf in the speed you can obtain valor in Ilum

where do you see this info? is this under 2/7 patch notes?

Ilum

Chests on Ilum now respawn less frequently to reduce potential gains from farming.
Particle Cannons can no longer be permanently disabled.
Implemented safeguards to address a Valor exploit.

It is under the 2/9 notes... I have the link my previous post

--------------------------------------------------------------

We will be bringing down servers for four hours on February 9th, 2012 from 2AM CST (12AM PST/3AM EST/8AM GMT/9AM CET) until 6AM CST (4AM PST/7AM EST/12PM GMT/1PM CET) in order to deploy a patch. This patch will resolve the following:
•Killing players on Ilum will now consistently grant Valor and mission credit as intended.

Only made it to 48 and I canceled my sub :/ at least I finished my story line.

I did the same thing tonight, but took a little bit more of a drastic approach. I delete my characters so I wouldn't be tempted to pay $15/month to play the same 3 war zones repeatedly each night. What a stupid waste of time.

Finally hit Battlemaster a couple days ago, personally I still like the warzones even after playing them so many times. Honestly I don't see how repeatedly doing warzones is any worse than repeatedly doing battlegrounds, I'd actually say it's noticeably more enjoyable.

I swear we lose the Alderaan WZ almost 100% of the time though lol, it seems to be a common theme that we don't have the DPS to clear a point off for a cap.

I finally decided to call support to unlock my account. First round I spent 10 minutes in line only to find out that the person on the other side couldn't hear me... Second time I got some east Indian guy, I swear to god I heard kids and a tv in the background lol

Is it bad of me that I don't really give too much of a shit about my teammates in warzones and whether we win or lose?

I mean, yeah, winning is nice, because you get more xp, valor, credits, commendations, legacy xp, etc. than when you lose. But other than that...

I'm kind of a jackass in the warzones. I've been playing my Vanguard lately, and I will intentionally put guard on (my order of preference) the highest level Sentinel, followed by Guardian, followed by Vanguard, followed by Shadow before I put guard on any other class including the healers. Why? Because within the first minute or so of the match, I know I'm going to have at least 3 medals:

1. The 2k protection without dying once
2. The 5k protection
3. The killing blow medal

And within about the first 3 minutes I know I'll be sitting at around 5 or 6 medals (10 kills, 75k damage).

I'm convinced I'm a bad person.

Those are medals you will get anyways on a vanguard, probably even faster if you put it on a healer. And getting them earlier doesn't mean you will get any more medals overall. I really don't see the point of this.

Speaking as another vanguard, if a tank class puts guard on me, I will remove it and put guard back on them

"Chests on Ilum now respawn less frequently to reduce potential gains from farming." - That still won't deter the "gold farmers". I guess it's better than nothing and the easiest method.

I would've implemented level restrictions to match what you see on the galaxy map AND removed the chests completely as the elite mobs guarding the chests already drop nice loot.

There is at least 1 chest on Ilum that has nothing guarding it.. Bad placement.

Level restriction wouldn't quite work. My alt is always 4-5 levels behind the listed level range, yet I have no problem progressing on those planets. I skipped many side quests. I would hate to be forced to level up repeating the same side quests I already did on my main, or PvPing for 5 levels.. I'm sure I'm not the only one.

Hit 50 last night, woohooooo!!!

still loving the game, the class storylines are awesome. i cant say enough how much of an impact that makes for me as far as game enjoyment. i feel like the missions i am doing are for a purpose. much more so than other games i have played.

so far my only real gripe is that some of the class missions seem a bit hard to do solo. not that i mind having my friends help me out, and they dont mind helping (or so they say ) but it seems to me that in theory anyway, i should be able to solo all of my class missions and some of them i just flat out could not. out of both story arcs i have completed, it has only been maybe 3 missions. so its not a lot of them that i needed help on. and i have had to help my friends with a few of their class missions as well. it just got a bit frustrating to be progressing in this really cool story and then hit a wall where i had to stop until i could get help.

in the overall picture of the game, a small small annoyance. but as far as progressing through the class story line, kind of a big thing.

anyway, time to get geared and do some operations!! i <3 this game!:biggrin::biggrin:

So once you hit level cap is there anything to do in this game? The leveling bored me to death in beta.

Playing my marauder I'm becoming more sympathetic to some of my friends obstacles in playing melee lol, the mechanics are pretty sound and they're strong classes but being in the middle of enemies and trying to switch targets is no easy feat; I've had some animation oddities as well like being 'locked into' a channeled animation and unable to break it or move.

And end game has two full raids, three warzones, six (seven now?) hard mode dungeons, dailies as well as everything you had access to levelling; finishing the story quest, companion affection, space missions, crafting/gathering.

Gear up for pvp or pve or both.
Make an alt.
Hope Bioware finds a way to make Ilum fun.

The only reason I am still subcribed is that I enjoy playing with guildmates. As soon as they pull the plug so will I. When Guild Wars 2 is released the guild will all be out of TOR.

Nothing really different than any other modern day MMO.

PVP/PVE dailies
Codex items - fill in the missing pieces [datacrons, mobs, etc]
Hardmode Flashpoints
Crafting/Galactic Trade Network
Level an Alt
use the game as your own personal 3d chat program soapbox
If you're on a pvp server - go find lower levels to grief.

I find starting an alt for the story much more fun than the end level content.

It seems the only thing to do in these types of mmos is to get gear. Then the question is how do you get gear in this game? Are there raids? What are the PVP options? Ultimately my desire for gear is so I can go kill people in pvp.

1. Mobs/Raids
2. AH equivelent
3. PvP commendations (you get X number of commendations per match, which you can then trade in for gear)
4. Open World PvP commendations - like above, except from open world pvp

What is the open world pvp like? Is there objectives or is it just running around trying to gank people?

Sigh, since hitting 50 I've been in the WZ queue for probably 12 hours over the span of the last week... not a single WZ has popped... Nadda, ziltch. My only valor gains are farming the (usually) single Sith in Ilum as I collect armaments. At this rate I'll hit Battle Master some time in summer of 2013.

I'm finding these "tales of the empty servers" very odd. Nothing like this on Shii-Cho: 50 and sub-50 warzones pop from morning to even 3am.

Didn't you say you unsubbed?
