Funny that this thread picks up just as I am contemplating quitting.

I'm getting burnt out on competitive pvp and probably wouldn't come back unless its for some fun group progression. Would be nice to have the old Sodalitatem guild back.

What happened to Sodalitatem? After the first server merge, I found the new guild and joined. The new guild got disbanded the next day and I switched to a PVP server since I found out one of my friends was on that server.

It feels and looks just like World of Starwarcraft. I was also pretty pissed that I bought a sub and still couldn't use the race I wanted for the only class I wanted to play (Sith Pureblood, Inquisitor).

With Planetside2 out, picking up Diablo 3 on sale, etc. I just don't have the time. I wish I had just spent the $15 on a month of WoW or the Walking Dead deal today instead.

It's sad too because I was looking forward to this game for years.

If you have a current sub, you should be able to do the Sith pureblood Inq. It may be a bug. Contact support.

well, that's ridiculous. I was able to start my Sith Pureblood Inquisitor through a free trial week back in April.

If the race is locked for the class you want to play, you need to play that race on one of the other classes to level 10, then it becomes unlocked. Check Sith race in the character creation until you find it unlocked on one of the other classes.

Pretty shitty design, i'm not exactly sure of the purpose. But you can get to level 10 easily in one evening of playing.

well, they always had certain races locked out, for certain classes until you hit legacy with one of them--and i believe some, like those blue people, are locked out until max level on some specific races or something like that.

for sith pure blood--it seems like a new lock-out scheme (was not locked out for me with my first character, in the same class) that is even effecting a subscriber.

I only hope it's a bug

I don't think the Sith Trueblood was locked out of any of the force users on Sith side. This was a while back though. I guess they could have changed it, but that would be quite silly.

It should not be locked out if he is a sub. I went to a new server (never played on it) and was able to create a Sith pureblood Inq. Legacy doesn't carry over to different servers so if there was a change, I would have been locked out. You should email support.

Yea, each class has four or five races [that should be] available to it natively. Sith Inquisitor and Sith Warrior should both be creatable as a sith pureblood right from the get go. You can "unlock" the race for other classes (on both Imperial and Republic sides) by reaching level 50 with a character of that race or purchasing the unlock through the Legacy Perks and/or cartel coins.

If you can't make a pureblood inquisitor, it sounds like something's not right. Are you sure your sub is active? It's possible race creation is limited for free accounts.

However, race in SWTOR is pretty much purely aesthetic and affects some story/dialogue elements in small ways if you can look past it as well.

Additionally Korriban is not the most compelling planet. I'd say try to stick it out past level seven and once you reach the planet immediately after it (Dromund Kaas) I think the game will pick up for you. Or you can try a BH or IA and give Hutta a shot, personally I really liked the BH story (and the IA is commonly cited as the best story in the game, mine's only level 20ish) and the Hutta quests I found to be much better than Korriban's.

No experience on the republic side however.

Well, I bought the sub the day they released the FtP game, so yeah it has to be current. I get that race isn't a big issue in how the character plays, it's just the matter of things being locked for someone who is paying a sub. I will try to finish up at the Academy and get off the planet to see if that really does increase my interest in the game.

I am a new subscriber and havent played imperial side yet. I checked tonight about the Sith race issue.

Sith Inquisitor and Sith Warrior is unlocked for me from the start. Sith race on Bounty Hunter and Sith race on Agent are locked and says " Unlocking a species requires a character at level 10 with an unlocked legacy". Previous poster is right, you may have found a bug...

I have tested this requirement on the Republic side, and was able to unlock the "locked" races by playing to level 10 on a different class with the race i want to unlock.

I should also mention that i am totally addicted to this MMO and subscribed after trying it FTP. I think its because i grew up in the 70/80s and am a star wars nerd i guess.

Hutta is much better than Korriban, and early BH is much better than inquisitor, imo, but BH bored me to no end by level 25 or so, and I painfully ground my way to level 35, I think.

Inquisitor story just gets better and better (stranger).

However, you've got 8 class specific stories to go through so that should keep you busy for sometime..

If you enjoy PVP, make sure you save up your Warzone Commendations so when you hit 50 you can get a few pieces of better gear.

You need to be valor 40 when you hit level 40 to start buying ranked wz comms. All players can accumulate up to 4500 Ranked Warzone Commendations and 2750 Warzone Commendations.

I'm deciding between sith assassin or sorcerer, I like the idea of just frying everything with lightning but I'm afraid that might get old after a while.

Just think of it as ranged v melee more than anything.

I think I'm gonna uninstall this game. It's annoying that I need to find a group just to get out of the start area, and this game is eating up a huge chunk of my hard drive.

...to do what? There are a few "Heroic" quests on Hutta and Korriban but they're optional, or doable solo once you get your companion and a little gear/patience.

see it was the opposite for me..

I hated .. HATED the inquis line..
and loved the BH line.

BH and Warrior and Trooper are the 2 best so far.
Agent was meh..
and Iquis flat sucked.

working on Smuggler now.
