Lucas should have handed off the story to a directo/writer who was a great fan of the old episodes. Would have turned out much better.

I thought it was good, better than I and II. Like has been said before, Vader doing the 'NOOOOO' thing and the dialogue between Padme and Anakin were painful. Something else to throw in this mix-> I thought it was pretty dumb when Mace Windu had Palpatine cornered, and he started changing into Sidious, and did that 'OHHH! OHHHH! OHHHH!' thing.

OMG I totally agree!

And when Ferocitus had Dominicus and Atraie up in the ship Wangdylion and they like totally escaped from Ghain II after they found out Jeyriah was the daughter of Chesshan and not Ployietian!

I also can't believe when the Paletorians invaded Retchizniar with only two Hedriders and half a Bukakedropper!

Sometimes... I feel so left out for not knowing what all the hype around Star Wars is for...

ROFL...

Exactly. If you remember Watto sold her to Owen's father who then freed and married Shmi. So i wouldn't say that it is his father or step father since Anakin was born by other means. But he is the closest relative he has. Tk149 does bring up a good point. In ~23 years Vader doesn't decide "Hmmm maybe he is with my half brother".

But if you remember at the end in Padme's funeral procession, they make her look like she is still pregnant. Maybe to throw the emperor and vader off....hmmmm? Kids die with her kind of thing?

I went to see it today. I thought it was great, and worlds better than the last two. I'd go as far as to say I liked it better than Return of the Jedi (I always hated the Ewoks!). I thought it did a great job of tying everything together, and it actually gave new relevance and interest not only to Ep 1-2, but even to 4-6.

My ranking:
1) ESB
2) SW
3) RotS
4) RotJ
5) PM
6) AotC
I'll go along with your rankings. I just saw AotC on TV again and that is by far the worst of the bunch. Just a complete piece of crap, other than the scenes where Obi-Wan was off by himself. Phantom Menace was annoying with the Gungun but any scene with Anakin in Clones just absolutely sucked. Bad character, bad acting, bad script.

I thought he played the character very well...TPM was slow as fock, with bad acting from jake lloyd, liam neesan. It will be interesting how much he will change TPM for the 2007 collector-dvd set. Apparently he has replaced all the yoda scenes with the digital version now. Good choice, that yoda in ep1 was lame.

Thou art on crack. He was the best actor in the movie.

pregnant women usu. keep the belly a little while after giving birth, so it would make sense she still had a bulge in the tummy....

Anybody suggest any SW related books to read. I might be on a ~20 hour flight and figure reading would be a nice way to spend some of the time.

Nice guess dumbass

Her body is prepared so she looks pregnant, to perpetuate the hiding of her children by making the people of Naboo believe her unborn child dies with her (before the actual birth, she believes she is carrying only one child).

Not to mention that the Emporer told Vader that he killed his wife on that platform. Why would Vader think the child(ren) lived?

another continuity question. In TESB, while luke is leaving dagobah to go to cloud city to save han and leia, obi-wan says that boy is our last hope. But yoda counters by saying there is another. Did they cut the scene where Obi-wan says "oh sh!t, I forgot about her."?

I haven't figured out this small continuity slippage...also, when Luke travels to Dagobah for the first time, he mentions to R2 that there is something familiar about it...I always assumed that the twins were born on Dagobah.

They also did not establish how Yoda ended up on Dagobah and why that cave on Dagobah was strong in the dark side.

My review: Like a Taiwanese karate movie with lots of pointless swinging about of sabers, dubbed into english so you can understand the very limited plot. Would have been better without the dubbing.

Side note: Why do folks cheer for the rebels? A hereditary aristocracy propped up by a mystic warrior cult was replaced with a merit-based civil goverment, not a democratic system, but a step up at least.

Some of the books told the story about that cave.

Don't remember what ones though.

I finally watched episode 3. not sure if its been said but hte thread is a bit long.

----------------------------SPOILER-------------------------------

What's up with natalie portman's death? No will to live?

they got flying ships & all this high tech stuff but they couldn't hook her up to life support.

another strange thing is

why does anakin and the chancellor have to keep hush hush about killing the jedis? later obiwan reviews the security tapes and pretty much sees everything or atleast could've.

wouldn't the chancellor being this all powerful dark sith lord know there's a camera in his room/office? wouldn't that be more than enough evidence to debunk the chancellor's claim the jedis tried to kill him? Or are we to assume the jedi would be able to manipulate video also?

Thanks. I think I read one by Salvatore which was Vector Prime. Was the Vector Prime Arc worth following? IIRC Chewbacca died

Originally, the script was going to have them say she died of a broken heart. Which is an actual "disease", believe it or not.

Is anyone else now bored to tears by the saber duels in these movies? The duels in the original trilogy felt far more epic and sincere. The new ones are too fast paced and choreograph way too tightly IMO. The drama of watching two greats like Obi-Wan and Vader going at it is lost because of the visual bombardment of twirling lights flashing around on the screen for ten minutes.

I also keep getting the feeling that the actors lose their focus in these scenes. Like McGregor and Christensen are using their full concentration on staying in step in some dance-off instead of maintaining an intense focus on each other as they act out a fight for their lives.

Edit: Spelling.

Yep, the prequel saber battles just got worse and worse from Ep1 to Ep3. Maul's two-on-one with his dual-bladed saber was okay, then Anakin's dual-wielding was too wimpy, and now the final insult of Grievous' laughable "Dooku-trained" antics. :disgust:

The rest of the Ep3 saber fights gave no sense of any real struggle whatsoever, with the good guys emerging without a scratch while the baddies get dismembered six ways from Sunday. I got tons more saber-duelling quality from playing Jedi Academy.
