transition from how Anakin turned to the Sith is really too fast,
if they only cut too much crap at the beginning

woulda probably made more room to see how he is convinced to turn to the dark side

but anyway, its Lucas's call.

I really wish there was an Episode 7,8,9

Side note: Why do folks cheer for the rebels? A hereditary aristocracy propped up by a mystic warrior cult was replaced with a merit-based civil goverment, not a democratic system, but a step up at least.

What, how do you get that? Individual members of the republic had aristocracies, but the republic was a democracy that was replaced by a dictatorship, which still had members who had aristocracies. And the Jedi were like the galactic police, they weren't supposed to pass judgement, though they did have their little anti darkside quest.

wouldn't the chancellor being this all powerful dark sith lord know there's a camera in his room/office? wouldn't that be more than enough evidence to debunk the chancellor's claim the jedis tried to kill him? Or are we to assume the jedi would be able to manipulate video also?

Well, there was the video of Mace Windu and a few other Jedi Masters attacking the chancellor....and they could just edit the video and cut straight to the part where Anakin saves the chancellor.

Episode 3 would have been great IF the actors didn't suck. The people who played Anakin, Padame, and other random characters really did a terrible job (and the script sucked badly) and it ruined the movie. I didn't find it very enjoyable.

Oh yeah, it's just like "anakin, join me" and he's like "ok"...i figured he wouldnt change so fast...maybe the old bad dude (for lack of remembering his name) secretly did the force hand wave or something

Overall, replace the bad script and bad actors and it would have been very good.

I think a big problem with this movie is the commercials and promotion for it.

All the advertisements on TV have fast, uptempo music and a kiddish voice over.

Star Wars movie commercial should be slow deep music with a slow deep voice over person. Then mixing in scenes.

Instead we get a commercial for something that looks like a happy, jolly kids movie. It totally ruined the build for me.

another continuity question. In TESB, while luke is leaving dagobah to go to cloud city to save han and leia, obi-wan says that boy is our last hope. But yoda counters by saying there is another. Did they cut the scene where Obi-wan says "oh sh!t, I forgot about her."?

I haven't figured out this small continuity slippage...also, when Luke travels to Dagobah for the first time, he mentions to R2 that there is something familiar about it...I always assumed that the twins were born on Dagobah.

They also did not establish how Yoda ended up on Dagobah and why that cave on Dagobah was strong in the dark side.

they darkside cave is explained by zahn in vision of the future

cliffs of the explanation?

Zahn...isn't that the guy who came up with the brilliant plot of friggin iguanas that can work as force barriers?

I don't really care for extended universe novelization...if it ain't in the movies, then it didn't happen!!!

According to the RPG (the original, West End Games version), Yoda goes to Dagobah because of an ancient Sith ship that crashed there, killing it's entire crew including the sith lord piloting it.

Over time, the lush and fertile green planet of Dagobah was permeated with the dark side as it ebbed out of the crashed ship and the planet became decayed and swamplike. Yoda went there to hide because of this all-encompassing darkside aura, which hid his own aura of light.

Over time, Yoda remained well-trained in the ways of the force by containing all of the darkside energy into the "cave" (which is all that remains of the crashed ship) and keeping it there, waiting the day Luke would arrive and test him with it.

Just got back from seeing it with my wife. I couldn't care less but she likes SW and so we went.

I found it monotonous (saberfights) and loaded with soap opera dialogue (Padme: "I don't know you any more"). Watching Vader and Obi-Wan saberfight for an hour knowing neither one can die takes all the suspense away.

On the way home my wife said it was average to below average and expected better. She also thought Anakin's turn to the dark side was unbelievably fast.

"Turn to the dark side, Anakin"
"No! Well....OK."

I found myself daydreaming about incongruous things like "they can fly across the galaxy but can't figure out how to hold on to a light sabre" and "they fight with guns that shoot projectiles - what, they never heard of bombs?"

Well, first off, how can you really get any suspense out of something that you know everything about? You KNOW neither can die, you knew that going into it, so given that, I think Lucas did an impressive job with what he had to work with.

Also...remember, its fantasy. If he made them think of everything, imagine how it could be...for instance:

Why the buzz droids? Couldn't ObiWan have just Force-pushed them off? Or Anakin?
Why did they not sense R2 was in trouble in the beginning?
Why didn't Anakin just run at ObiWan instead of jumping over him? Or maybe throw some lava at him?
Why does Vader even need to look like that? After his burns healed, couldn't he have just worn a mask for breathing?
The list goes on...the whole point of this isn't to nitpick, but to illustrate you need to let go of your logic and enjoy it. There were plenty of the same things in the old trilogy, you just haven't thought about them.
