To those who nitpick every single detail... Do you do this with EVERY movie? If so, how can you enjoy any of them?

Of course there are inconsistancies. It's not real.
A good movie allows suspension of disbelief, thereby allowing you to overlook its faults. And I thought this thread was about SW3, not commentary on how you enjoy movies more than other people because you are so superior ;p

And to keep this post on topic, In the opening fight scene... i want dog fighting and torpedo runs, why waste time on the "buzzy things" when it didn't even affect anything in the movie... just reiterating for the bazillionth time that Anakin is the l337 driver, another sigh moment.
I think a lot of people went into SW3 looking for every little inconsistancy they can find. I'll bet that if one were to look at ANY movie with such a fine tooth comb, they'd find just as many.

Hah, like the car in Fellowship of the Rings! OMG Peter Jackson how could you put a gasoline-powered vehicle in the Shire?! That was so inconsistent man.

Yeah, but why??? If you were to take a look at any other Lucas film that closely, you could come up with many of the same issues. I could easily make the argument that there were way more problems with Episode IV-VI.

I don't know... It just seems that stories are much more enjoyable if you allow them to be, instead of searching for reasons why they aren't.

But that's only possible if you allow yourself to "suspend disbelief". I'm sure that there are many people who decided long before they saw the movie, that they were going to find inconsistancies.

1. If you thought his switch to the dark side was sudden, then watch tpm and AotC again and this time pay attention.
"The boy is dangerous, they all sense it why can't you?" and "I sense much fear in you. " "Fear is the path to the dark side"
from TPM; establishing that he was already on his way to the dark side as jake loyd.
In AotC, he slaughters women and children, also offscreen. He gives in to the dark side when his mother dies, he just doesn't tell the other Jedi. "I'm going to become the most powerful Jedi ever"- so by the time we get to rots he has already killed innocent kids and decided that he wants power more than anything, so the killing of younglings in rots is nothing new. He didn't turn to the dark side for Padme, he did it for his mother.

I agree with most of what you said, cept i think his mom dying just put him on the path to the dark side, but wanting to save padme at all cost turned him when he saved sidius from mace.
before that, yes he was most deff on the path, but still wanted to be a true jedi, not sith.

I finally went to see the movie. I guess I was expecting just a little more lightsaber skill from G. Grevious. He had nothing.

I actually thought he had too much skill, for not being a jedi and all.

I just got back from seeing it and i thought it was great. the scene when vader takes his first breath in the mask was powerful. but i thought it was a bit too much like frankenstein when he broke his wrist bonds and stepped off the table.

overall i give it a A, it entertained me and the story captured me thats what i got to the movies for.

I just came back from seeing it just like Citrix and I have to say it was amazing. The intensity and symbolic references were fantastic. It all makes perfect sense now, and I think I've gained an ever greater appreciation for the series. It makes me want to go watch the last 3.

Samual L Jackson > Yoda?

This movie was crap. just like the previous 2... BUt I did enjoy when Anakin's legs + arm was chopped off and he was set on fire... I dont know why...

The force might be strong with him, but he is a dumbass.

I went to see it on thursday, first showing (10 AM) and with the fandango stackable coupons...almost free...

saddest thing...2/3 of the theater was guys there by themselves (me included). still only like 25 people in the theater, but still funny seeing 15 guys in the theater by themselves watching a Star Wars movie by themselves...

Well, the wife and I waited until the fansies had all seen it the X number of times they would before growing tired of it.....saw it tonight for the first time and had the theater to ourselves completely. 10PM showing, all alone in the theater. Made for a nice viewing, no one else talking, no phones going off, etc.

I just wish the movie had been better. LLLOOOOONNNNNGGGG for what it did......and since it was a swing-movie...it connected II to IV, and having seen IV when it first came out and repeatedly over the years, this one just went too long to explain how Vader came about, how the twins were born and separated and to where, how the Republic became the "bad" side and the Separatists became the "good" side.....and on and on. Overly long repetitive light saber duels.........admittedly good backgrounds and graphics, but special effects don't hold a lagging story together at all. I knew wssentially what was going to happen....having seen all the movies that happened afterward, so it provided no surprises, jsut filled in a bunch of detail as to why and how it happened.

Damned near fell asleep a few times.....it was dull, boring, and I honestly felt that I should have waited for the DVD to come out and rent it instead of paying theater prices to see it. This movie could have been cut to 45 min. and still kept the story intact.

Should have gone into Mr. and Mrs. Smith instead.....tonight was a waste of money.

I have a question about Star Wars.

I decided to watch Empire Strikes back again, and many times during the movie, the ghost of Obi Wan tell Luke that Yoda trained him. But in Episode I, Qui Gon is Obi Wan's master.

Don't disturb the force pointing out these things.

Mr. and Mrs. Smith is worse in story by far, though it has just about as much action.

Yoda was like the head of the jedi, he probably trained everyone. He also did give Obiwan some private training to do on his own.(can't believe that obi wan would just decide to become a hermit though, seems like the guy who would want to actively lead a resistance against palpatine)

Remember, yoda trained obi wan how to "talk to the dead".

And I'm sure there was other teachings since he was a master.

I was under the impression that he became a hermit to make sure that Vader and Palpatine never got their hands on Luke, and to train him when the time was right...

Are you serious? The one with the stormtroopers cowering away from the teddy bears with sticks and stones?

All kidding aside, I think every other movie (with the exception of EP I) was better.
