This is true in almost every team sport. It just shows how a physical defense ready to play can shake an offense that relies so much on timing.

here's the best part:
Eli is still > Peyton.
here's the best part:
Eli is still > Peyton.
Not even close. Just amazing the logic people have.here's the best part:
Eli is still > Peyton.
Or how about people that drink it all day are the #1 cause of diabetes? I love Coca Cola but only drink it on weekends.
Lol why? Because he has one more ring? I recall seeing 5 MVPs to zero, btw.
They kept cutting to Eli Manning watching with this strained look on his face, and my buddy was thinking he was trying to hold back laughter for keeping the Superbowl crown over Peyton. I think he's more innocent than that; it was belated guilt for paying a voodoo priest to make everyone on the Broncos forget how to play football. "Aw shucks, I probably shouldn't'a done that..."

Always the same excuses, every time. Its the offensive lines fault (the same line that allowed Manning to sit in the pocket all day and throw 55TD and had fewest sacks). Its the defense fault. The other team is mean. Manning receivers are being inappropriately touched. Yes, we heard this all before, every time the "messiah" chokes in the playoffs, which happened way too many times.
Truly great players (Brady/Montana) made things happen. Stat hoarders like Manning and Marino don't.
Numbers don't lie:
Regular Season W-L:
Manning 167-73 .696
Brady 148-43 .775
Playoffs
Manning 12-13 0.478
Brady 18-8 0.692
Montana 16-7
Marino 8-10
Seattle picked a great day to play their best game of the season. Denver picked a poor day to play their worst game of the season. It made for a completely boring affair, which is a shame, as I was primed for a tight back-and-forth game. I was pulling for Denver because I wanted Manning to pick up one more before he retires, but Seattle's a great team, and they've really grown on me over the past few years, so I'm not even remotely disappointed they won. It's not fair to put that loss entirely on Manning, but despite his record setting number of completions, he threw some balls that weren't within three counties of his receivers, so he doesn't get a pass for Denver's abysmal performance. Every part of the Broncos absolutely sucked in that game, Manning included.
Amazing how the medias opinion on Peyton has so many people being such jerks about him. Peyton didn't ask for any of it, he goes out and plays the game and does a damn good job of it. Meanwhile haters are so pissed at their own lives they can't wait to see a nice guy fail. Does Peyton go off on everyone around him in a yell fest when he loses like that Brady does? No he actually has some class.Losing the game wouldn't be a choke.
Not even showing up? That's a choke.
You cannot be in the conversation for "best QB ever" and lay a turd like that in the Super Bowl. Everyone is so gaga about Peyton's supposedly mythical ability to read defenses and get his offense into the right play....oops, so much for that, at least in the big game.
Peyton is officially off the list for the Mt Rushmore of NFL QB's. The "greatest ever" list starts with Montana and Brady, then there's a step down to the next level. Peyton might have a good argument for being on that second level, but he has forever forsaken his claim to the top tier.
I never knew how funny Stamos was until recently. I would kill to be in a room with those three. You know the insults get merciless and below the belt.

Montana and Brady both refer to Peyton as one of the greatest that has ever played the game too.
A commercial for 24 !!!!
lol, wowI am still trying to figure out what happened.
I am hoping that someone like Gruden will put together a definitive tape that shows us every Denver possession with the entire field in view--basically, I want to see what Manning had to see.
Was Seattle Secondary that fucking good tonight? I still don't believe it...but the type of throws he was making tonight, I can only imagine that he was so flustered and his options were so poor that he was playing like the JV middle school player that we saw--because he was forced to play that way.
anyway...that's what I hope. I don't want the story simply to be that Denver played worse that Jacksonville or Detroit has ever played. I want it to be that Seattle shut them the fuck down. that's the only thing that makes this SB memorable--for Denver and Seattle, tbh.
Because, if not, then Jacksonville could have stomped Denver tonight. No one wants to see that--ot even Tebow fans in Jacksonville.
I used a poor choice of words, tantrum is what I was going for.Actually, Manning was yelling at his offense line on the sidelines tonight.
Holy crap that was painful to watch...and I was even rooting for the Seahawks...
Skipping every post of this this thread..
The only thing good about this superbowl is knowing that Jack Bauer is back!
And I am going to cry with my $60 bucks that I won

Even without the turnovers Seattle would have most likely still won. 49ers, Panthers and Saints probably would have beaten the Broncos. They didnt play anyone in the AFC with a top tier defense, and you can't simulate the speed and physicality. And they had no experience going against a defense that can get pressure on the QB and stop the run with just 4 guys. And Seattle's dbs are so good it doesnt matter how much time PM has, cause no one is open except for the short underneath stuff. If he could scramble or still had his arm strength he could have made them adjust, but the only chance he really had was if Seattle made mistakes on both sides of the ball, and they generally dont. Its too bad Peyton will be labeled a choker. His teams usually win with smoke and mirrors, but they are rarely the best team in the playoffs. If anything, I think he is an overachiever.
I watched a lot of Seattle and SF this year, and they were best teams IMO. The real Super Bowl was two weeks ago.
Well that was pretty fucking hard to watch. It just shows how a physical defense ready to play can shake an offense that relies so much on timing. Seattle defense played a great game and easily won that game.
I will say that I don't understand some of the people blaming the Denver D. They did a pretty damn good job of containing Lynch, and only let Russell start scoring after the game was lost and things were hopeless. This was 100% not understanding what Seattle defense was capable of. They had great tackling which prevented either Thomas from getting yards after catch. They disrupted routes enough to ruin the timing of the long pass. They also got in Manning's face enough to cause tips and INTs.
