looks like they started taking pre-orders today. existing customers will probably receive it a day or two before it hits stores on the 6th.

i had 6 months left on my contact and tmobile was nice enough to give me the subsidized price of 199. cant wait. anyone else picking this up?

It looks ok but it doesn't look all that impressive. I like the slide out keyboard. 2.2 vanilla froyo is nice too but unlike many here, I think vanilla android is bit boring and lacking in polish and functionality. Hardware looks ok but not better than current phones. Only thing I see worth mentioning is HSPA+. I curious about the real world download and upload speed. I get 5-6 megs down and 1.5 meg up in HSPA+ areas with my Vibrant.

Am curious about the speeds as well, would go for it and tether exclusively but I'd hit the Bandwidth caps pretty quickly since I stream a lot of content...

But, its still better than MotoBlur and TouchWiz. Sense, debatable.

Android Spin had some benches up for the G2, outperforms the Nexus One handily on Quadrant. Adreno 205 GPU is supposed to be a big improvement over the Adreno 200.

While $500's a lot, that's still $100 less than other good smart phones if you buy them outright.

That was fast. Supposedly there's a Verizon version coming soon, but its apparently locked to Bing.

The US needs to end this crap with carrier exclusives and subsidies.

No express shipping. Ordered Saturday. Go to UPS, and track by reference number. Mine was phone number without dashes. But some have the dashes.

FYI: If you paid for express shipping, call back and get a refund. CSRs were not supposed to offer that option on pre-orders, and it won't get you the device any faster

well got the phone today and i must say that i am impressed. first thing u notice is how nice the build quality is. its heavier than i thought, the slide out keyboard is great and hspa speeds are extremely fast. this phone will not disappoint

Here's the million dollar question.
When does the bandwidth start getting throttled on the 4g stuff?
I was having hell getting my Vibrant to do anything on 3g for a week, when I called I was told I hit a ceiling and that basically it kills the 3g connection until the end of the cycle. Edge worked fine though.

I didn't think I used it that much.

How's general performance of the phone? I know they underclocked the phone to 800MHz. People are saying that it's for battery life. I'm sure it's too soon to tell how battery life is but is performance good on it?
