Nobody... NOBODY in the party had the courage to stand up and tell Biden to step aside? Like...thanks for 2020 but we'll take it from here. He has been on a sinking ship since Afghanistan and vaccine mandates. Public absolutely and irreversibly soured on him at that point.

When the GOP cements permanent rule, the Biden Cult can at least rest easy that no "norms" about primarying a sitting president were broken. Like some of you are still living in 2012.
Well, we're about to get the government we deserve.

There is no "Biden cult" lol! Any over exuberance or excitement about reelecting Biden is because he is running against Trump: The worst ever candidate and person to run for President in history. One of the hallmarks of a cult is that members cannot criticize or challenge their leader. After Trump’s verdict, a Republican politician running for office (Larry Hogan, I think?) had the audacity to say we (everyone) should trust the court’s decision. The MAGAsphere ripped him a new asshole telling the press he had ruined his political career. Trumps MAGA politicians have bragged about running anyone out who wasn’t behind Trump 100%. Republicans killed a border deal they were happy with at the behest of dear leader Trump. The Republicans were willing to sacrifice a border deal they genuinely thought was good for the country because Trump was afraid it looked good for Biden. This kind of behavior is far different from Democrats backing Biden. It’s not even in the same ballpark.

Hogan is trash. Sure he’s a RINO. But he’s a coward writing in Reagan for past 2 elections. Don’t care he’s in a D state

Biden should absolutely debate Trump again.

To refuse is worse than to show up and lose.

Than is used in comparisons as in "she is younger than I am" and "he is taller than me". Then is used to talk about time as in "back then, I lived in Idaho, " "we'll have to wait until then. " and "the then governor [the person who was governor then]."

Sorry, man, drives me nuts. It's a short drive.

Its all good.

As for the drive, I already went over the cliff. The crash at the bottom is quite traumatic, I would not recommend it.

1) the crosstabs on a lot of polling look flat out insane

2) we have no idea what magnitude or direction of polling error we have this year

3) most polling models are geared for a high turnout scenario and the debate viewership is not screaming that to me, probably due to the candidates on offer

4) debates don’t budge polling much historically and are not predictive

5) it’s not clear the Biden’s performance has tangibly harmed his prospects with the broader electorate when they are put to the choice v Trump

There are a lot of potential pros and cons of trying to replace Biden (assuming he agrees) and I’m not at all certain we would end up in a better spot or not as a result of doing it. We could, I don’t discount that but it’s a major dice roll.
G'dammit, why are you right all the damn time?

In a Model S, you'll survive and won't even be prosecuted for attempted manslaughter.

If those people weren't convinced by a coup.. do you think Biden can really sell himself to them?
Biden needed to convince people to show up to vote for him, more than trying to peel of trump voters. Do you think that performance convinced anyone thinking about staying at home to go out and vote for Biden?

I completely agree with this. Replacing Biden at this point would be very risky.

Yeah that was definitely the best candidate to pick for our 24 nominate, as you and many other said here from my memory.

Pick a guy who can't debate a pathological lying toddler who looks like an idiot on stage and could be dismantled by a 15-year-old from The debate club.

Y'all should apologize for your bullshit and then maybe then will it be fair to converse, because that's a really long fucking time to be full of shit and so wrong.

Problem is there's people that think the same at the higher levels of the Democratic and Biden establishment. And so here we are.

Tell it to President Hillary Clinton.
Except we all knew Hillary was a capable and mentally fit person who is present in reality, who may have had an off night Her negatives, while she had many (from GQP propaganda) were certainly not those.

Again, you ignore the context of WHO AND WHAT JOE BIDEN IS constantly, to make these nonsensical arguments. Comparing him to Clinton? Obama? Hilary?

Repulican propaganda makes out of context misleading info doing this exact same thing. Doesn't it bother you that you are using their methodology here?

Any update as to if Trump attempting to get his vice president to violate his constitutional duties and throw out electoral votes so Trump could remain president after losing the 2020 election will affect your vote?

Ezra Klein nailed it. He was one of the first to sound the alarms about Biden's electability.

“It was a choice, if an understandable one, for zero major Democrats to run against him in the primaries, even as polls showed majorities of Democratic voters didn’t want Biden to run again,” he continued. “It was a choice, if top Democrats and the White House believed Harris too weak to run or govern in Biden’s place, to do nothing about it.”

“But rather than act as a check on Biden’s decisions and ambitions, the party has become an enabler of them. An enforcer of them,” Klein wrote. “It is giving the American people an option they do not want and then threatening them with the end of democracy if they do not take it. Democrats like to say that democracy is on the ballot. But it isn’t. Biden is on the ballot.”

Only democrats have agency. The GOP can’t help their base instincts and are not responsible for their behavior.

Duh
That piece is basically the purest form of beltway journalism. Everyone knows you don’t get clicks for saying ‘Republicans are trying to end democracy’. The way you get clicks is by finding a way to blame Democrats for it.

And then put out some puff pieces from editors saying the media isn't capable of creating public narratives, they're just reporting facts (while they ignore the obvious feedback loop of wall to wall coverage of one topic and not another).
