Middle of the week kind of sucks for those of us that work. Especially me who has to drive 2 hours to make it to the meet.

15th is a Thursday and unfortunately, many people driving up can't do it because of work or they have school

Why don't you make a weekend out of your trip?

Silver - good job with the guest list. Keep it up.

Um, have we decided on the downtown D&B's yet or is there another location we might consider to where parking won't be an issue?

Also, what time should we meet and who needs rides?

I can pick up a few peeps if you're in my area (if you have a 312 area code)...

I prefer later (like 9ish) unless we're doing dinner, but I'll also settle for earlier to accomodate those younger folks who are laden with curfews and such...

I'd also strongly suggest bringing some attractive women but then I'd be a hypocrite seeing as how I'm not planning on inviting my gf... She already thinks I'm uncool.

I'm not sure where the downtown ones are but there's also one in Schaumburg (NW suburb) where parking is free and they have a decent lot. It's also a little further from the side though. Just another option to consider.

Do we want to just have a snack and hang out or play games or eat dinner or something else? I don't think we've ever stated exactly what we are going to do

Yes, please!

Will someone be able to provide directions and parking spots (just to let me know where it is safe to park) since I have only ever been downtown twice? My girlfriend and I are planning on coming, but need details soon.

If by some freak chance we end up at the one by my house, I can give you directions. Aside from that, I don't know the downtown situation too well. Maybe some of you students that are in the city can tell us where we can park?

Dork.

Ok, the first person who actually means it and I know isn't actually a nice guy

The address appears to be:

Dave & Buster's
(312) 943-5151
1030 N Clark St (basically 100 West/1000 North)
Chicago, IL

This is the Gold Coast, anyone driving here will have to prob park valet or in a garage. Although, if you want you might want to drive around for a whle and park on the street. The loop dies down at night on weekends, so if you don't mind walking from there you can get free parking.

Most of us students take the train like I'll be doing.

I'd like to avoid another poll, but then again, I'd like avoid downtown at all costs.

We've tentatively agreed on Saturday night at D&B's. Ideally for me it'd be Shaumburg D&B's at 9, and 7:00pm dinner at Maggiano's/Todai/Hooters/Cheesecake Factory for those who want.

How about all you peeps answer some questions:

1. Are you in?

2. What time is good for you, and are you in for dinner if we have dinner?

3. D&B's Shaumburg or D&B's Downtown?

4. And would you still go if we didn't pick the one you want?

That should do it. Everyone please reply again...

It's a lot easier for people in the city who have no cars to get to places downtown, than say burbs which have no good public transport.

I still am undecided as to whether I'm going, because the 18th is my birthday, and I might be doing...other things late saturday night. However, if I do go, I live real close to Comiskey. There is a parking lot on my campus that is empty on the weekends; it also happens to be right next a Green Line stop. Otherwise, everyone is going to be paying upwards of $10 just to park. That's another option.

I'm not sure if parking near IIT is a good idea

You can find parking in parts of the west loop or loop easier, closer, and safer. Another thing, this D&B is more central than the one in the NW burbs.

I've parked here for two and a half years and haven't had a problem yet...you know they're tearing down the Robert Taylor homes?

I know they are tearing them down, I just don't like going to the undergrad campus, when I can stick to the loop.

And parking is easier b/c its much closer to that D&B.

I live down the street from the downtown Chicago D&B's, so I vote for that one. Parking in my building is at an unholy rate. This D&B does offer valet parking, but I don't know how much it is. There is also a public parking garage across the street from D&B's that is also at an unholy rate. You could get lucky and find street parking close by. It's possible, I've done it. I don't think you need any kind of permit for most of the street parking around here. If we settle on this D&B, I can help give directions. If not, someone better give ME directions.

I wish I could offer my apartment as a meeting place, but it's only a studio, and way too small for the number of people we have. Plus all the pr0n hanging on the walls would probably be offensive to somebody.

Dinner wherever sounds good to me. I go to Hooters for the wings. Really!

Anyways, I'm flexible on the date, time, and meeting place. But if it's on Friday, there's no way I can get to Schaumberg before 7 PM. Traffic sux. If needed, I can give some people a ride (4-door sedan).

BTW, I refuse to wear a nametag that says, "tk149" or "dork." Maybe I'll wear my AMD cap... Some of you could wear your free Anandtech T-shirts!

as stated earlier I can go. It doesn't matter bout location of D&B, but since I live in schaumburg the suburban location of D&B would be easier for me to get to. I would be able to make it to dinner. I don't think I can go friday. Just came to that realization a few days ago. LCAP (required community service to graduate). I just realized that I really don't want to be on the train this late from schaumburg. If anyone that's in the area(of schaumburg) and is willing to give me a ride pm me or e-mail me amit_risw@comcast.net

Chicago ATOT Meet, not Schaumburg ATOT meet.

I vote anywhere in the city, not the soulless burbs.

I voted simply because agnitrate said he could give me directions if it was in Schaumburg. No one else has offered to help yet.

Okay, babies...

Schaumburg from the city is easy. 290 to the Woodfield or golf exit, or 90 to the 290 exit and follow the big pretty green sign that says "schaumburg...

If you need a ride there I may be able to bring up to 3-4 people...

We shall see what the majority wants, I want Schaumburg but I'll let the majority decide.
