the only thing this might mean is that a lot of their strong events are right up front...certainly doesn't guarantee they're going to keep up the pace...

That pollution looks pretty bad during the sculls competition. Or is it just "mist"?

So.... what happened to China's amazing new weather manipulation equipment? It looks like it's been pouring out there lately!

The US is really gonna have to step it up from the three-point line in basketball. With the way these teams pack in the lane, its gonna get harder and harder to win without hitting from outside or at least breaking the zone down from the top of the key.

I think it had more to do with this game being the first offical game on the road to redemption. Not only that but playing against host country china + at their home turf for their first game probably had a big influence to the players mentally.
You can see this at the 1st and 2nd quarter, but once they got more confident, the gap widened to 30 points.
Anyway there were some sickass moves in that game. Dwayne Wade is da man!

why make the weather nice for events you're not strong in?
BEIJING (AP) - Bela Karolyi seethed as he watched the Chinese women compete Sunday.
Not because of how good they were in qualifications, finishing 1.475 points ahead of the American team that often trains at his Texas ranch. What bothered the most famous man in gymnastics was "China's arrogance" for using girls he wasn't even sure were teenagers yet.
"They are using half-people," Karolyi said. "One of the biggest frustrations is, what arrogance. These people think we are stupid.
"We are in the business of gymnastics and we know what a kid of 14 or 15 or 16 looks like. You don't have to be a gymnastics coach to know what they look like at 16."

^ because it's the oldest form it makes it all ok that they look like fools? Their release on shots & passes make them half-fall over and the ball is skipping along the ground. Picture running around with a miniature-golf club and trying to go around people. This is the wackiest pro sport I've ever seen. I can't believe these athletes choose to play this sport when roller/ice hockey and even lacrosse & soccer are available.
Gosh, you're going to have a lot of these reactions when you watch all of the different Olympic sports. Hopefully, your narrow point of view opens up a little bit.
