Ok, now I'm sure that Asian-looking dude was probably Secret Service (or some other type of security guy). They just showed one of the other dignitaries (Australia?) -- he had a guy sitting next to him too and you could clearly see the guy's earpiece.

So anyways, I wouldn't be too concerned about the seeming lack of security -- they're there, trying not to looking too conspicuous.

Ok i really really really really hate "Scotland the Brave" and bag pipes now. you would think that with 250+ nations they could have arrange a more diverse soundtrack.

that fireworks display was amazing. wish i could have seen that in person.

the drummers and Tai chi guys were beyond amazing. Oh and the blocks i thougt for sure they were hydraulic and computer controlled. I still cant believe they had that much precision.

Absolutely the most amazing show that I have ever seen, and probably will ever see. I don't think any other nation on earth would be able to match that show, since it would cost way too much to even attempt. Zhang Yimou did his nation proud tonight (er, last night).

I suspect that the "dignitary box" had super-ultra-maximum security. I bet the Secret Service went nuts over that, plus the eleventy billion kilos of explosives planted around the stadium.
