I'll be rooting within the hour, methinks, waiting for some files to download and md5 verification. Das BAMF 1.6 Remix is the first ROM I'm going to flash. Hopefully, in a month or so, we enjoy CM7.x

The OC is wicked, and I finally installed Launcher Pro, it's a great launcher, the screen transition options rocked my world

I have ADW Ex. Works very well too. Some minor stability problems when unlocking desktop to add app icons to folders though, tends to restart it. I asked Anderwebb on Twitter and he told me to wait for the update.

I like ADW a lot too, the "rotate" option is what blew me away, it follows my natural swipe...

ADW needs an update bad (especially with Gingerbread). I can't live without Launcher Pro's widget's though. The Facebook one is better than the app.

Careful with that. Even if pay Verizon the fee for tethering, you'll still likely have to deal with data caps and inconsistent speeds. LTE is fast, but I wouldn't want to try stream Netflix over it.

I dont have netflix... I currently pay like $35 a month for a 4/1 connection...

How many devices does the hotspot handle??

At most I would be downloading a few things, streaming hulu, etc. but all at different times. I mainly use the internet for browsing and then some movies...

im running CM7 on my thunderbolt. it's amazing, but there are still radio issues - 4g may take several attempts to connect, and there are issues with radio signal which creates poor battery life.

but BAMF is better atm in that it's stable, won't crash, and doesn't chew through a day of battery in 6 hours.

CM7 is Pre-Alpha, expect show stopping problems. Give them some time.

Edit - Das BAMF 1.6 includes the new radio files? Flashing it right now.

I think you need to flash the new radio, but you can do it after you flash the rom

Just finished. Very long process on the TB to flash ROMs, takes a lot longer to restore my 157+20 from Amazon than it did to restore the ~80 on my old antique Droid.

Sold that phone yesterday, on a side note, shipped it out saturday morning after some wiping.

bamf 1.5 should have the new radio file, so 1.6 should also have it

CM7 is the rom i use since the first pre-alpha release. once i set up ADW launcher to my liking, i dont see how i could ever be satisfied by sense. dont mistake me for my battery woes on CM7, i can get a full day if i don't do stuff like re-flash kernels or cycle 4G on and off to test it out. if i just leave it on 3G, the battery life is comparable to bamf 1.5 remix.

Am happy with das BAMF, got through the day with using only 45% of the extended battery with moderate use, can't wait for the update tomorrow to get included in the dev's roms.

Verizon Wireless is releasing an update for the HTC Thunderbolt smartphone on May 3. For those of you unfamiliar, the HTC Thunderbolt is an Android-powered smartphone running on Verizon's 4G LTE network. In spite of the ThunderBolt's battery issues, there is no mention of any battery-related fixes in the update. The update does include enhanced data connectivity for 3G, properly stored SMS and MMS messages, and improved timing for device activation. The update will also correctly display "Backup Assistant" in the app menu, data-centric applications such as Facebook, KAYAK and Yahoo! Mail will have undergone stability improvements, and finding the correct location within the weather app is also part of the update. Chances are there are plenty of tweaks and fixes to this update and when we know for sure we'll keep you in the loop. The update is a manual download, which can be found on the Verizon website.

Got any recommendation for the most Vanilla-like TB ROM out right now? Sense even in Das BAMF 1.6 is ticking me off.

I'm eligible for a Verizon upgrade and I want a new 4g phone. Should I wait for some newer models or go ahead and pull the trigger on the Thunderbolt. I can get it from verizonwireless.com for $150.

I'm happy with my thunderbolt. I'm not excited about anything coming out in the near future so I don't regret not waiting either.

Well, their 4G lineup for this summer is the TB, the Droid Charge, and the LG Revolution. The TB and Revolution use the same Qualcomm 2nd Snapdragon+ Adreno 205, and the Charge uses the Hummingbird. Its all old, rehashed hardware. They're all decent phones, but they'll play second fiddle to dual core phones from other carriers.

Downtown Chicago, surrounded by more steel and concrete than Alcatraz. 3G phones don't even work here. Suck on these nuts iPhone.

Depends if you want an unlocked bootloader now, or want to wait and see if the later 4G phones are locked. IMO, this is the 'Droid1' of 4G phones.
