That sure was difficult.
Sam Witwicky wasn't a metrosexual in the old cartoon, though.

He didn't strike me as a metrosexual in the movie - for silly sakes he got a Camero and not a new pair of Lucky jeans to impress the girl.

And, VW apparently wouldn't let Bumblebee be a Beetle - they didn't want to be associated with war or something, despite the fact they're a GERMAN company.

We're in a war now. So Germans can't say no for that reason?

It's just the angle. The premiere shot was just not that flattering. In the movie she definately good looking.

Um..that's Petra Nemcova , not Meg Fox.

Whoops didn't actually write anything to say these pictures are from a better angle, but weren't Megan Fox

The pics of Megan Fox aren't that great from what I've seen. But for the most part she look pretty stunning in the film.

I don't believe that's the reason they said no. From what I read, the Transformers movie had war in it, and that was their objection. However, bonus points to you for adding politics to the discussion.

I watched it. It was alright, I'd give it a 6. The dialogue was lame. I really wasn't expecting much from this film. After all, it is directed by Michael Bay.

I agree. I think the whole military story was pathetic and worthless.

well I am going to go see it for my third time in theaters.

for those that don't already know, its free for me since I work at the local 16 screen.
bet it will still be awesome this time. It was kickass the first time I saw it, amazing the second time, and probably will be even better since you pick up on things.
I've already picked up on things when I have been working and randomly walk into the theater to watch a segment.
and I really look forward to the final scene with Megatron. I absolutely love his lines.

"Is it fear or courage that compels you, fleshman" - Megatron

"It is only you and me, Megatron" - Optimus Prime
"No, it is only me, Prime!" - Megatron

Thank you!!! Someone who agrees with me that MF looked better in the movie than the premiere photos.. I think it is her eyebrows or eye color in the premier photos that doesn't look like the ones in teh movie.

Like I said, the original show was Robots vs Robots and the humans were just kind of there. This was more like Humanity vs Robots with some Robots as assistance. Heck, they said the idea of the movie was more about a "boy and his car" than anything else... that's not transformers.

who gives a fuck? it's a movie not a cartoon.

plus, in this modern day, if a filmmaker completely ignored the capabilities of the military, it would make people rather upset.

Well, they totally ignored the technological side of a military network. It's not "hacking" when data is being exfiltrated from inside the network. That whole side of the story line was ridiculous.

well they had to make the military network in such a way that it would work on film. Look to Live Free or Die Hard for an example of unrealistic network structure.

not to mention, it still is considered hacking, because even if inside the network, you still have to break into it to access the files. Just because you can see a computer thats attached to some network, it doesn't mean you can access the files of that network.

The only real problem I had with the technological aspect, is that a 1-star general was able to order the entire defense network to be shut down. In real life, a 4-star general still couldn't do that without permission from SecDef or, most likely, the President.

I thought they handled the military aspect pretty well, given the nature of the film and its time constraints for that specific story line. And the technological side of the network? The entire military story was all about the technological side of the network, and the whole concept of breaking communications within the hierarchy of the military.

FYI in an interview they said the scenes were all shot in 90 days. In contrast, Pirates of the Carribean (with fewer action scenes) took 280 days.

Anytime a movie is filmed with water scenes it automatically takes longer.

Transformers was a rushed production however.

I didn't grow up watching Transformers....I heard of the main characters though....

I thought this movie was damn good though. The action scenes alone make it a movie you could watch a few times....

to those that didn't like it...too bad.

gah i really want to go see this again. and apparently there is a sequel in the works (possible trilogy). it was announced *before* the movie hit the screens, so hopefully it will avoid the matrix efffect.

Damn, I just saw it a few hours ago and still trying to fully absorb all the badass action. Saw Harry Potter last night and transformers totally blew Harry potter away. Even my gf liked it and she's not even a sci-fi action geek like I am. Definitely worth it to see it again and then buying the dvd/hd-dvd when it comes out.

I used to watch G1 when I was a kid, but not a huge fan. Still, this really brings up the nostalgia. I recognized Prime's voice right away, and still remember all the nicely placed quotes throughout the movie.

"One shall stand, one shall fall."

When Prime said that, it me chills....

My speculation for what will happen in the next movies. It may mirror the speculation of others, but I am not about to read through the entire thread.

Shockwave will arrive in the second movie, and will contend with Starscream for leadership of the Decepticons. More fighting will ensue. Megatron may or may not be retrieved and revived. Though it didn't show it in the movie, at the end of the comic book adaption of the movie a glow was seen emanating from his chest as he sank into the depths. Optimus Prime will use the fragment of the Cube to create the Creation Matrix/Matrix of Leadership.

In the third movie, Megatron will be brought back as Galvatron, though how may vary depending on if he is revived as Megatron in the second movie, and he will probably be lost in a space battle at the end of it. Unicron will show up in the third movie and revive Megatron as Galvatron is Megatron was lost in space at the end of the second movie, and we will have a semi-remake of the animated movie from the 80's. I know, I am messing with the timeline a bit, but I can see them splitting events up a bit due to the size of the story-arc.

I just saw it last night and thought it was awesome. I am definately excited about any possible sequels.

And - is it just me or does anyone else find the notion that in a movie about giant transforming robots that were created from a cube that existed before the universe itself that the discussion surrounding realism focuses on the structure of the military network and the definition of hacking slightly amusing? Not trying to flame or anything - it just make me smile a bit

Learn to use some periods. The robots weren't created by the Cube, they just found it and discovered its power.

I just saw the movie. I like it. Good summer action flick. Even though I love robot/robotics in general, I never watch the cartoon when I was young. The toys were all I cared back then.

I read all of the pages and agree with most of what people said,

The CGIs are great. Robots and cars, can't go wrong with that
The opening military base sequence was badass, reminded me of Independence Day but better
Megan Fox is hot (filled the role ok, loved it when she was all sweaty and dirty near the end)
Shia LaBeouf is a pretty good actor
The parents were a little nutty! WTF? (I saw some young kids (<13yrs old) in the audience and wonder how their parents feel about that whole masturbate joke.)
Don't like the hacker part or the Autobot trying to hide at Sam/Shia's house
I can live with the Sector7 part because of the All Spark secret
I was hoping they would include the original Transformer theme in the movie
It does feel like the movie featured a lot of technology in the current military, like a military recruitment ad or something.
StarScream vs the other F22s was too short but great. (At least the military fights back with good results unlike other comic book movies.)
Dumping all of the destroyed Decepticons into the sea? WTF? They explained it but still WTF.
Not enough screen time for Prime and Megatron.
The robot vs robot fight scenes are too close. Sometime, it looked like a jumble of machines rolling around.
The Decepticon got creamed...

I will see it again when the crowd dies down. (And need to stay until the credit rolls for the StarScream scene.)
