Crazy battle in the second half. A late scare by Croatia. Some sh*tty tackles from them though to stop Henry and Pires bursting through to counterattack.

But in some ways I like how Group B is still wide open. ndee, the Swiss could still qualify, you know.

damn. Swiss put up a good fight but as said, never really dangerous. Oh well, stupid Croatia.

I was´nt impressed by England even thou they scored three goals.
Croatia should have won, France played bad too and the hands was so obvious... stupid referee was lousy.

You mean smart tackles. France should of lost that game, if the ref calls the handball croatia would have never lost their momentum.

Yup. Technically they are smart tackles, but I'm rooting for France but they are sh*tty tackles for me.

It's called "handball" in English. I corrected ndee as well.

By the way, I re-watched the part of Henry offside call.

The ref got it right. Henry was in offside position when he first received the ball, but the ref had his back turned on the linesman so he made a late call.

If England go out I will waste my voice on cheering the I-ties out of the competition.

I think with pirlo and cassano starting they'll be fine, especially since pirlo is freaking magical at distribution and free kicks, cassano needs some time to settle into the game. The players are there for them to break into an attacking type team, they just have to get the right players on the field at the same time.

I guess its fashionable in the soccer world to hate on Italy these days.

Nope, I still hate them because of the Euro 2000, when they played against Holland. All they did was defending with 11 players. They finally won(after Holland wasted 2 penalties in regular time IIRC) but it was SO ugly to watch. Of course you can win matches with ONLY defending but it's not attractive soccer -> it's VERY VERY boring soccer. That's the only reason I dislike them, plus, they are friggin' crybabies.

anyone else notice that france has not scored a goal that resulted from good play on their part? two free kicks, one own goal and one keeper screw-up. plus, both croatia and england had easy chances to seal the game (point blank in the last minute and pk misses respectively) and didnt. if france actually plays a team that refrains from shooting itself in the foot, i think they are gonna lose!

Actually zambrota was sent of in the first half, Holland just wasn't good enough to take advantage of Italy being a man down for nearly 60 minutes, and you must of missed the final against France were Italy played a brilliant game, but I guess you can ignore that.

Good result for England!

Got off work at 4pm today and have been in the pub for the last seven hours, we didn't really deserve to win by that much, but it will do.
We will have to up our game for the next matches if we want to do anything though.

Yup.

They kinda play like a star-studded Swiss. Brilliant midfield but no finish. I'm overall quite disappointed with their lack of creativity around the opponents' penalty box. They rarely broke apart the enemy defence.

It's more likely that people don't like their cynical attitude, ability to fall over at the merest gust of wind and the spitting certainly doesn't help

They just didn't have the luck. I have to say, it's utterly stupid to miss 2 penalties but still, the way Italy played was AWFUL. I know, offense wins games, defense wins championships but it's just so boring to watch! I only remember that France PWNED them in the final minutes and that was enough

Oh yeah, and the spitting(that's ok actually, Frank Rijkaard did it too at the World Cup 90 Although I think Rudi Völler called him a ni**a IIRC) is just retarded and that foul by Totti against Denmark was disgusting!

So, what are your bets for the evening's games?

I kinda feel sorry for Bulgaria, what with their underdog status and high hopes..still, I would like nothing more than a final between Sweden and Denmark so..
*vhi er rode vhi er hviiiide' eller hur går den..

Italy - Sweden - 2:1
Denmark - Bulgaria 2:1

close, just remove 'h' from vhi and of course o with ø

I think your results are most likely, although I hope Sweden to nullify Italy
