Don't think England will do too well, as they have a difficult group, but I reckon they will just about scrape though into the QF stage. The England manager is playing Steven Gerrard, one of their best players in the left of midfield (he is best in the central position as was shown for Liverpool), but since there are no left midfielders in England team I think it's just a case of stick em anywhere, which is odd.

Yeah I think most fans of football in England will agree that Aston Villa have a ready made left sided midfielder in the shape of Gareth Barry, most of the fans and 95% of the commentators can't understand why he hasn't been picked and instead we're playing players out of position there and they ALWAYS struggle...

What strikes me is that Canada gets full, free coverage.

Agreed Deco has been playing so much better than Rui Costa who has been poor for a few seasons.

I trust that Scolari picked his best 11 based on what he saw on the training ground.

Portugal looked very nervous in the first minutes. Maybe pressure got to them a bit too much. Far too many defensive errors. But then Greece defense hasn't been all that great either. They got away with some very poor defending.

Rui Costa seems to be one of those players whose reputation (certainly internationally) exceeds his performances. Maybe the Figo/Deco situation is too problematic at the moment.....

It's a shame England can't offer Deco a place
