Rui Costa seems to be one of those players whose reputation (certainly internationally) exceeds his performances. Maybe the Figo/Deco situation is too problematic at the moment.....
It's a shame England can't offer Deco a place

heh tru dat, I'd have Deco in my team any day...
Rui Costa is trading on past performances (as is Owen for England tbh)

Figo doesn't like Deco because he's naturalised Portugese (originally Brazilian I think?) - doesn't think that players should be able to change nationality

Yeah, although he's still worth having around if he can hit form. I would have taken Defoe as well and left one of the midfielders at home

Scolari needs to stop relying on the underachieving "Golden generation" and start playing Deco and Ronaldo. They are the future of Portugese soccer.

Agreed, except for Defoe I'd rather have Vassell in the team he's proven on the international stage and in the big games (and I'm a Villa fan so... )
Though I still think Heskey the donkey should have been left at home.

I'd have had Vassell and Defoe in the squad. If Heskey played to his strengths then he'd be first choice - I remember his debut against Argentina and his physical presence terrified their defence, but now he falls over a lot.
Congrats to Villa BTW for a great season

Ronaldo is getting a very hard time from the crowd now, be a shame if he's made the scapegoat
