Penn may have won but Diego stood with him for nearly 5 rounds and didn't loose by ko or submission. Penn didn't "dominate" the fight - he stalked and countered but couldn't ever finish - if you can't finish...well...thats hardly dominating in my opinion....

Were you watching the same fight? Penn completely controlled Sanchez and did basically whatever he pleased with him. He landed at least four knock-caliber punches. It's not Penn's fault that Sanchez is incredibly hard to knock out AND we have to consider the fact that once BJ was in control why would he risk something like a submission when he could just continue to toy with Sanchez.

Exactly. Simply because Penn didn't finish the fight before the fifth round doesn't mean he wasn't dominating every round before it...which he most definitely was. Sanchez showed great heart (especially surviving the first round), but he was just outclassed this time around.

Sanchez wasn't successful at anything and Penn had his way in everything he tried to do. Sometimes it doesn't make sense to go after someone when they keep walking into your jab and hook. Penn played him like a violin, letting him tire the whole fight while getting nothing in return. Then Penn turned it up a bit at the end and closed the deal.

It reminds me of the Mayweather/Hatton fight. Mayweather exploited Hatton patiently, while going for the closeout at the end when Hatton was tired. It wasn't as dominant on the scorecard as a quick knockout, but he totally dominated hatton throughout the fight.

Sanchez talked smack before the fight and during interviews and we just saw BJ do his speaking by totally whooping Sanchez`s ass....a total beat down for 5 rounds!!!
Penn could have finished the fight anytime he wanted.....Penn`s purpose was to humiliate Sanchez which he did!!

Dude, I posted that during round one when Sanchez recovered from what seemed like a near called fight by the ref. I meant he was close to getting a 1st round loss.

Diego would of had a chance if he took him to the ground but no one takes down bj penn. GSP is the only one that could easily put him down!

I just choked on my coffee laughing at this. It's true though. I will certainly give props to Diego for hanging in - but not sure what fight you were watching, Drakkon. Boy I just noticed I failed bad at the old multi quotes....

I did not expect Pen do dominate so much. Mind you after I seen Kenny take care of Guida so easily I got worried a little bit for Diego.

Technique easily won over pure aggression in both fights.

I hope Diego is OK after this cut.
Overall very good fights.
