yeah we'll see about that

Even though I'm a huge Ohio State fan, I have to agree that OSU is not the best team in the nation right now. If OSU ends the regular season unbeaten and has a convincing win in Ann Arbor, then we might be able to make a case for number 1, but if LSU wins out then even with one loss I think that LSU is the legitimate #1. OSU, in my mind, is on-par with USC and Cal.

In any case, the only poll that matters is the one in mid-January. Anything before that is meaningless.

As a fellow OSU fan I'd have to disagree with you on your rankings. LSU is a very good team but they lost.... to Kentucky. Now I'm drinking the Kool-Aid hard on OSU I'll admit that, but we're a VERY good road team this year. How important is that? Go ask LSU, Oklahoma, USF, South Carolina, Kentucky or Cal.

All you heard about before the Minnesota & Purdue games was how good their offenses were and how many yards they had on teams. What happened after those games... we now have the #1 Defense in the land.

If we can beat down MSU and their two headed running attack I think OSU starts getting a lot more respect.

CAN I GET AN AMEN...

Was there; the game wasnt as close as the score suggested. If brown didn't fumble two punts it wouldnt have been close.

Defense dominated.

RU will be top ~13 after beating West Virginia next week... and my liver will be ranked much lower..

Kentucky is better than any team Ohio State has played or will play this season. OSU may well remain undefeated, but whether that's because they are the best team in the country or because of how soft their schedule is will remain a mystery until they play another top 10 team. It doesn't look like that's going to happen during the regular season.

QFT

ohio state has played.... youngstown state, the university of akron, washington, northwestern, minnesota, purdue, and kent state. not exactly a heavy-duty schedule. not that i completely discount the undefeated record; the best you can do is win the games you have, right? but i'm not buying completely into it. *if* they can win out over MSU, Penn State, Wisconsin, Illinois, and Michigan... even then, they will still not have played a team as good as Kentucky is this year. Kentucky may be having an out-of-nowhere season, but if you take out the no. 1 team in the nation, and your only loss is to a very good South Carolina team, you're doing all right.

Calling S. Carolina a very good team is a stretch. They are decent but will have their chance in the next few weeks.

What is beating a top ten team really worth this year? The entire pre-season top ten has lost games, multiple games in a lot of cases. What is worthwhile is winning your games.

For years USC rolls to NC games beating their way through a pathetic PAC10. I mean a really bad PAC10. They only had to get up for Cal. Now OSU is doing it and it's "how do we know how good they are?". Hmmm... could it be because Disney is constantly talking about how craptacular the Big10 is? And why would they do that? You'd think there's another network broadcasting good Big10 games that might be a threat or something... oh wait... yeah we better heap some FUD on that product.

Fuck that noise.

LOL, wasnt Kentucky tied with Kent State at half time? OSU was up 35-0 at the half and had already taken out thier starters.

If you're even trying to put KY in the same ballpark as OSU your on crack. With as many points as they are giving up in every game, theres no way they would survive against a solid defense (OSU allows less than a touchdown per game, and if you disregard the times they were scored on late in the game with thier benchwarmers in, its like 3 points a game). OSU could easily hold Kentucky under 10 points. And just as easily put up 20 (Hell Kent State put up 20 on KY, but only managed a late field goal against OSU). Ya thats right, OSU would be at least a 10 point favorite over KY. (thats at KY. probably a 17 or 20 point fave at the shoe)

Yeah this week it isn't the prettiest for the conference... but we'll see how it is at the end of the regular season. Before last weekend there were four or five Big10 teams ranked. But yeah, the Big10 is in a down year. Not as bad as everyone wants to talk about on Disney networks but yeah, it's a down year. But the PAC10 had like a down decade or so and USC was the greatest team ever . How competitive was the Big East when Miami was winning their NCs? Uh, VT was about it.

Please...

Quoted for ownage later in the season.

You need to watch the KY games and not go by stats. They're good.

Umm, I have watched KY, watched them today too, even Tivo'd it for some laughs later. They are sloppy, allowing 45 points at HOME!, bwahahaha. Oh and those stats I was speaking of, you know... points? they are kind of important, who ever has more wins the game. Sheesh, its not like I was talking about yards or completions or something crazy.

If KY wants to be "good" they should probably start by looking up defense in the dictionary. Either that or just stick to basketball.

Yes, which proves them even more of a fraud, since they lost to another already-proven fraud. If they lost to a good SEC team they could at least say they lost to someone legit.
