NASHVILLE, Tennessee (Ticker) -- The Vancouver Canucks try to avoid a letdown Thursday night as they visit the Nashville Predators.
Despite being in last place in the Western Conference, Nashville has defeated Detroit, Dallas, Colorado, San Jose, Los Angeles and Minnesota. Minnesota is the only one of those teams that did not make the playoffs last season, but currently leads the
Northwest Division.
Vancouver fell to 3-4-1 following a franchise-record 10-game winning streak with a 3-2 loss at Chicago on Tuesday. The Canucks, who are second in the NHL in penalty killing at 88.3 percent, allowed a power-play goal to Kyle Calder with one second left in regulation.
Todd Bertuzzi and Matt Cooke tallied for Vancouver, which had been been 11-0-2 when leading after the first period.
Nashville fell to 1-3-1 in its last five games with Tuesday's 3-0 loss to the Calgary Flames. With a chance to move out of last place in the Western Conference, the Predators suffered their third 3-0 loss in five games.
The Canucks were 3-1-0 vs. Nashville last season. The last meeting was a 5-0 win in Nashville on March 12 as Bertuzzi collected two goals and an assist and goaltender Dan Cloutier made 23 saves.
