DETROIT (AP) - Dan Cloutier stopped 33 shots and Bryan Allen scored the go-ahead goal as the Vancouver Canucks beat the Detroit Red Wings 4-1 on Sunday night.
It was Vancouver's first regular-season win in Detroit since Feb. 6, 1997.
The Canucks beat the defending Stanley Cup champions twice at Joe Louis Arena during the first round of last season's Stanley Cup playoffs and won at Vancouver earlier this season.
Trent Klatt, Sami Salo and Matt Cooke also scored for the Canucks. Tomas Holmstrom scored the lone Red Wings goal.
Detroit hit five posts or crossbars, including a penalty shot attempt by Holmstrom with 3:38 left after Murray Baron interfered with him on a breakaway. Sergei Fedorov hit two and Darren McCarty and Luc Robitaille each hit one.
The Canucks took a 3-1 lead into the third period after Salo's power-play goal in the second. He beat Curtis Joseph with a slapshot from the top of the left circle. Cooke added his goal later in the period.
Holmstrom opened the scoring 3:20 into the game when he beat Cloutier on the short side with a low slapshot from the top of the left circle.
But Klatt tied it 1-1 later in the period when he skated from behind the net and stuffed a shot past Joseph.
Vancouver took the lead for good with 2:31 left in the first period when Allen put in a rebound.
Notes: Detroit D Nicklas Lidstrom played in his 900th career game. ... Robitaille returned to the Detroit lineup after being a healthy scratch Thursday at Colorado. He was with his son Mark, who is a Detroit scout and former NHL player. ... With two assists, Vancouver C Henrik Sedin registered his first multiple-point game since Nov. 30.
